1000 Books Before Kindergarten

ALL BRANCHES: MONTHLY The Kenton County Public Library is proud to present 1000 Books Before Kindergarten a reading initiative geared toward children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Help your child develop their vocabulary, build confidence, and be kindergarten ready.

Reading Buddies*

AGES 3-12 ERLANGER: MONDAYS • 4:30-5:30 PM Children are invited to read with one of our Reading Buddy volunteers. We’ll provide fun, interactive books. Younger children can listen to stories and older children can practice their reading skills. Snacks provided. Earn a new paperback book when you attend 3 times.

Kid’s Craft Club

AGES 4-8 ERLANGER: TUESDAYS • 7-8 PM Join us for a different craft every week.

Playart @ Baker Hunt

TODDLERS-SCHOOL AGE OFFSITE: FRI., NOV. 12 & 19 10-11 AM Join the library at The Baker Hunt Cultural Center for an artful storytime! One of Baker Hunt’s youth art instructors will present an art project to go with each week’s storytime theme. Baker Hunt is located at 620 Greenup St, Covington, KY 41011.

Sensory Open Play

Wild Wednesday: Paint Night!

AGES 8-12 ERLANGER: WED., NOV. 3 • 7-8 PM Children can create a masterpiece! Different mediums of paint and canvases will be provided. Some paint will NOT be washable, so wearing “paint clothes” is recommended. Limited to the first 30 children in attendance.

Homespun Homeschool Club: World Cultures!*

GRADES 1-4 ERLANGER: WED., NOV. 10 • 1:30-2:30 PM Join the Cincinnati Museum Center in a special hands-on program about world cultures. There will be activities involving maps, music and much more.

The ROOK-ies Chess Group

WILLIAM E. DURR: WED., NOV. 10 & 24 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM Practice the basics of the game, improve your thinking skills and progress to challenging an opponent. Some previous knowledge of chess is helpful.

Wild Wednesday Movie Edition: “Ghostbusters”

SCHOOL AGE- TWEENS ERLANGER: WED., NOV. 10 • 6:30-8:30 PM Get ready for the NEW Ghostbusters film to be released in theaters on Friday by watching the original 1984 film (rated PG)! Snacks provided.

Honey Hill Farm Petting Zoo

FAMILY OR ALL AGES ERLANGER: SAT., NOV. 13 • NOON-1 PM Celebrate fall by visiting with the animals from Honey Hill Farm! Children are allowed to pet and feed the animals from the farm. See ducks, goats, chickens, and more. This event will be outdoors.

Letters to Santa, Letters from Santa

ALL BRANCHES: MON., NOV. 15-DEC. 13 Santa’s workshop is really humming, and Santa is busy reading letters and making lists! Through this program, children will be able to mail a letter to Santa and receive a response from Santa by Christmas. Santa Express Mailboxes will be installed in the Kenton County Public Libraries, the Kenton County Government Center and Kenton County Animal Services on November 15 and will remain there until December 13. There is no postage necessary for letters that are dropped off at these locations.

Farm Animal Storytime

AGES 0-5 ERLANGER: SAT., NOV. 13 • 11 AM-NOON Join us for a farm animal story time before you go to the petting zoo!

Kids’ Book Gift Ideas

Small Talk: A Book Club for Homeschool Students*

SCHOOL AGE-TWEENS ERLANGER: WED., NOV. 17 • 1:30-2:30 PM Join us this month to read the award-winning middle grade novel, “I Can Make This Promise” by Christine Day. This novel is inspired by the author’s family. It is a coming-of-age story about a young girl named “Eddie” short for Edith who discovers family secrets and her own Native American identity. It is very timely and current. This novel is a 2020 American Indian Youth Literature Award honor book.

Cook-A-Book: Stone Soup*

PRESCHOOL-SCHOOL AGE COVINGTON: WED., NOV. 17 • 7-8 PM Join us for this monthly program series where we’ll read a book and then cook a yummy treat! We’ll read the book, prepare some delicious soup, and make a craft while we’re waiting for it to be done! Please register online so that we can plan for enough food.

Wild Wednesday! Pie Tasting

AGES 8-12 ERLANGER: WED., NOV. 17 • 7-8 PM It’s almost Thanksgiving, which means PIE! Come taste a few different types and vote for your favorite! Simple crafts will also be provided. Pies may contain gluten, nuts, and dairy. Limited to the first 30 children.

Thankful Stories — A Family Storytime

Down the Rabbit Hole: A Reading Experience with Rabbits*

TODDLERS-SCHOOL AGE WILLIAM E. DURR: THURS. & FRI., NOV. 18 & 19 • 2-4 PM Join us on our “Down the Rabbit Hole” adventure to wonderland with our favorite library mascots: Luna and Lola. Show up to your scheduled time slot with your favorite book and read to our rabbits! Sessions will be a total of 15 minutes. Library staff will contact you to schedule a specific time.
