The erection of the winery in 2004, simultaneously brought about the opening of its facilities to wine-lovers. About 700.00 visitors have been hosted, a fact that credits family's initial vision to create a space where cultures interact, wine being the common place. These people, along whom we share wine routes and experiences, were the inspiration for the emergence of our new trade identity: “Akranis”- a word no longer in use but in traditional songs from islands in frontier areas, and means friend, companion. Friends have also become the two warriors depicted in the new logo, Hercules and Chalcon, as witnessed in the former's labours set in Kos.” The need for redefining has reinvigorated the wine-making aspirations of our production team, thus presenting a modern and flexible code-list. New wines are capable to fulfill modern markets' different needs, and mostly display the soil profile, the varieties' typicity and the low yields of the 15 hectares proprietary vineyard. Devotion to detail and expertise lead to the production of wines with character and complexity.

Mary and Antonis Triantafyllopoulos visualized the reviving of Kos vineyards in the early 1990s. In 1996 they began their systematic effort to re-establish Kos wine in the modern wine market, with respect to the local history and traditions. The vine cultivation is documented by references in historic texts written by the founder and pillar of rational medicine, Hippocrates, born here approximately in 460 B.C. The first plantations could take place nowhere else but in the traditional vineyard area, Miniera Asfendiou, on the foothills of Mount Dikaios. A lot of work and persistence was required so that Kos obtains its own Protected Geographical Indication (P.G.I. KOS) back in 2007. A process completely undertaken and carried out by Triantafyllopoulou family and its associates, aiming at certification and protection of Kos' wine identity. Over the past 25 years, the initial vine-cultivating and wine-making vision has been gradually embodied, via a 15 hectares proprietary vineyard, an experimental vineyard, and a modern, fully-equipped winery, with a production capacity of 250.000 bottles. KTIMA AKRANI, gaining constant distinctions for the quality of its wines, with thousands of visitors yearly experiencing the wine-tasting print of the area, and working with professionalism within the frame of ISO22000 quality insurance system, has become a genuine and modern ambassador of Greek Mediterranean wines.
