Art Burn with Claire Lewis Evans
IN THE COURTYARD OF WONDERS Creativity is a popular buzzword these days, but what about the value of destruction? Everyone knows that it's necessary to let go of old dreams and keepsakes to make space in our lives for new insights and growth. But that process doesn't have to be painful, and can even be liberating. Creative people know this their bones, but they don't always talk about it. Join Claire Lewis Evans and a group of artists in the Courtyard of Wonders as they put old work to the flame, reflect on what they’ve learned from it, and prepare for new adventures! Who knows, there may even be marshmallows.

Her work has been featured in numerous juried, invitational and group exhibits, and has received awards from jurors including John Henry, Carol Mickett and Robert Stackhouse, and Miranda Lash. The Bonaires IN THE COURTYARD OF WONDERS
The Bonaires is a good time, six piece cover band made up of local musicians. Art Night guests will hear tunes ranging from Steely Dan to The Band. The Bonaires are composed of Mike Rives on piano and trombone, Randy "Frog" Palmer on bass, Barbara Grimes on flute, Tom Stem on guitar, Dan Vogt on guitar, and last but not least, Chris Ballard on drums. It is also pertinent to mention each band member lends their vocal stylings to their music.
Featured Clay Place Artists SUSAN GOOSTREE ALLEN Susan Goostree Allen became a part of The Clay Place after meeting and being encouraged by fellow co-op member Fred Mitchell. Building on a life long love of arts and crafts, Susan's pottery focuses on her Christian faith as well as her love of nature and the state of Alabama. Many of her pieces are signed with the scripture reference Isaiah 64:8 - Yet Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You are our potter; we all are the work of Your hands. Susan's pottery can be purchased at Anna Kate & Co.
JANIE PLAXCO Janie has loved clay her whole life! She would pour and decorate pieces as a child, then fire them in her grandmother's kiln. While in the sixth grade, Janie took her first official ceramics lesson. Years later, she took ceramics and sculpture classes at the University of Alabama in the 1970s. She learned under Kentuck's resident potter, Mark Rigsby, in the late 1990s and in March of 2013, Janie joined The Clay Place. Her work is built from slabs, using antique lace and stamps for making impressions in the clay.
