Website Checklist Here’s an easy checklist that will help you get started as you think about your website and how you want it to work for you as a marketing tool. I. Domain Name – How Will We Find You?
Identify a domain name (URL) that is clearly related to the name of your business, organization, cause, special event, etc. The easier it is to spell, the easier it can be found.
Research the domain name you want at www.Register.com or www.GoDaddy.com to see if it’s available.
Purchase your domain name as soon as you can. Consider buying variations of the selected domain name or other domain names that can be tied to your website later (e.g.: your name).
II. Your Audience – Who Are You Talking To?
Identify and list your target audience(s) for your website (e.g.: parents, donors, clients, students).
Write down the key problem or issue for each audience group. Answer the question: “Why would this group come to my website?
III. Overall Look and Feel – How Will Your Website Represent You?
Briefly describe the look and feel you want your website to have, including ideas about the color palette, graphics and photos.
If you don’t have a logo yet, jot down the colors you like and don’t like and words you would use to describe your business, your organization or yourself. If you’ve seen a logo or a few logos that you like, find a sample or take a picture.
