We assure our esteemed customers and stakeholders that the Port is not congested, it is operating normally, cargo is safe and there is fluidity of cargo movement to and from the Port. As at 29th May, the total container population at the Port stood at 15,000 TEUs against a maximum port capacity of 25,000 TEUs. As at Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Container Terminals were fully-operational with only one waiter MV Everdainty at the Port’s convenience and she is expected to berth tonight On 24th May 2018, a breakdown of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Manifest Management System (MMS) caused delays in customs releases to cargo. The breakdown was rectified within 30 hours and the backlog has eased since then. During the MMS breakdown, all KPA systems and operations at the yard and quayside continued to run smoothly. Loading and offloading of ships went on uninterrupted. In the last 4 weeks, the Port has received two Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes to be used for handling rail containers, and 10 Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTGs) cranes and one Ship to Shore Gantry crane to bolster berth productivity.
