FIRST OF THREE REPORTS TODAY: Delivering on the Levy. The district is proud to report our major building projects funded in the 2008 levy have been delivered on time and under budget. COMING AUGUST 13: Student testing. Last year’s ISAT scores were the highest the district has ever recorded — and superior to any public school serving the area. AUGUST 20: Student achievement. In academics, sports and overall achievement, students and teachers have nearly three dozen notable accomplishments.
Above, building expansion and improvements at Kootenai Elementary School were completed on time and under budget due to a favorable bid and careful oversight.
Lake Pend Oreille School District patrons trusted their school district to carry out their wishes to expand Kootenai and Sagle elementary schools and implement a health and safety plan at all schools. The plant and facility levy approved by voters in May 2008 provided $14.1 million for those projects that have been completed on time and under budget. With the levy fulfilled, taxpayers will see a reduction in their tax bills this December. The projects are paid in full with no debt. Everyone at LPOSD thanks our patrons for extending their trust. Because the Kootenai and Sagle building projects were completed under budget, the district had remaining funds to improve other facilities, as the law allows. Sandpoint High, Farmin Stidwell Elementary and Sandpoint Middle schools received upgrades. The levy also provided resolution for health and safety issues at all schools, such as asbestos removal and new roofing.
Thank you again for electing to fund these improvements. We hope you are as pleased with the outcome as we are. Accountability matters.

SECOND OF THREE REPORTS LAST WEEK: Delivering on the Levy. The district is proud to report our major building projects funded in the 2008 levy have been delivered on time and under budget. TODAY: Student testing. Last year’s ISAT scores were the highest the district has ever recorded – and superior to any public school serving the area. AUGUST 20: Student achievement. In academics, sports and overall achievement, students and teachers have nearly three dozen notable accomplishments.
Lake Pend Oreille School District students achieved the highest ISAT scores of any public school in the community in the 2009-10 school year – and the highest the district has ever recorded. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students; moreover, we are pleased our students have demonstrated that they possess the skills to be successful. Our staff of professional teachers are to be commended for helping students improve in all areas measured in the Adequate Yearly Progress Scores. ISAT SCORES - PROFICIENCY
Teachers are like doctors, or any other profession in which proficiency must be demonstrated. Teachers help students prepare for the ISAT (Idaho Standards Achievement Test) – a benchmark that holds students accountable for their learning. In turn, these standardized tests prove that teachers are being accountable, teaching our children the three R’s – reading, writing, arithmetic and so much more. We welcome these assessments and the added accountability they ensure.
Thank you for taking a moment to compare and analyze LPOSD’s scores. We hope you are as pleased with the performance of our students and teachers as we are. Accountability matters.

Success Breeds Success
Some say it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. While there is truth
in that, winning does come to those who prepare and then give their best. This notion of being the best is also about accountability to yourself and others. Lake Pend Oreille School District students, teachers and other staff practice commitment and accountability in both academic and athletic competitions – and it shows. In the 2009-10 school year, our students and educators won dozens of accolades, contests, championships and grants. When the best is expected, the best rise to the occasion. Thank you for taking the time to look over the long list of accomplishments and achievements at our schools this past school year. We hope you are as pleased with their success as we are. Accountability matters.
