OUR Mission

By incorporating the surrounding natural beauty of North Idaho, the Festival at Sandpoint is devoted to enriching the local community by providing a wide array of diverse opportunities to engage with arts, music, and culture through performances, experiences, and education in an attempt to promote cultural diversity, community connection and engagement, and stimulate the economic vitality of the region.

Our History

The Festival at Sandpoint has presented music under the stars in Sandpoint since 1983. The non-profit arts organization was founded in 1982 by a group of local volunteers who wanted to introduce symphonic music to the area and provide an economic boost for their community. The first Festival at Sandpoint took place during the summer of 1983. Since its first season featuring three

concerts with the Spokane symphony orchestra, the Festival has grown and diversified. The two-week series now includes an eclectic range of country, jazz, blues, world, rock, and pop concerts.

2024 Posters

The Festival at Sandpoint’s Fine Arts Poster tradition dates back to the start of the organization in 1983. What started as advertisement and fundraising for the Festival at Sandpoint has now become a way to showcase some of the community’s many talented artists to celebrate and publicize their work.

Submissions are evaluated on multiple criteria: originality, creativity,

execution, quality, demonstrated skill, and how well the art embodies the spirit of the Festival community in a creative or innovative way. It was extremely difficult for the Festival to select just one winner. As a result, two winners were announced: one Fine Arts poster and one Series Lineup Poster. The original art is auctioned, with bidding beginning on July 9 and concluding at the Grand Finale performance on August 4.

2024 Posters

The artist’s donation of this original piece is not only a tradition but a fundraiser for the non-profit organization’s mission. This year 50% of the proceeds will go towards another local nonprofit, the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness.

Daniel Gill

Daniel Gill is a designer and illustrator based in Sandpoint. He studied graphic design at Southern Utah University and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010. Since then, he has worked primarily as a graphic designer specializing in brand development, visual identity, and creative storytelling.

He enjoys making art in any form, and his mediums vary from traditional drawing and painting to digital illustration to photography and video. His love of drawing and painting goes back to boyhood, and while he now spends more time with a mouse and keyboard, a pencil and brush will always be his first love.

“Scotchman Sunset”

Poster Inspiration

Scotchman Sunset is inspired by some photographs I took while hiking Scotchman Peak this past summer. Anyone who has made the climb will recognize the mountain goats that call the area home and seem fairly unbothered by the passersby.

As an artist, it’s always tempting to try something complicated and painstakingly detailed, but for this piece, I thought I should try a simple approach that would need little explanation. I wanted to see what kind of an image I could get working with just simple shapes and flat colors. The style is a bit of a nod to classic travel posters that often made use of flat, simple colors.

I hope that anyone who sees the piece will find it to be a tribute to the natural beauty of the region and the summer days that make one want to relax and enjoy the view.

Magdalena Idzikowska

Our 2024 Series Lineup Poster Artist is Magdalena Idzikowska, a student, a student at North Idaho College, is originally from Poland, and her passion for travel has led her down many incredible paths in life. From studying at Liverpool Hope University in England to

now pursuing Graphic and Web Design at NIC, she has worked to merge her creative side with her love for exploration. She hopes her art inspires others to follow their passions and discover the beauty of the world around them.
