Consider your options
The fastest way to lower your golf score is to improve your course management. This means that you should always consider where the next shot should be played from in order to give you the best angle into the green or away from trouble.
From the tee, decide which side of the fairway offers the best option. Don’t lay up or hit an approach shot as close to the green as you can if you are comfortable hitting from another yardage.
This may take some of the trouble such as sand or water out of play as well.
If you are a long way from the green, choose a club that you are confident that you will hit well and not just the longest club that you have. On the green, consider where the best place to putt from is. Even the very best golfers hit a very small number of shots that they would call perfect in a round of golf.
Golf is a game of misses, and if you can make better and smarter misses, your scores are bound to improve.
Practice and range time are very important for your game to improve as well; however, there are other ways to lower those scores that are just as important.
Consider taking lessons to learn more about course management.
