2016 / URBAN DESIGN // TINY HOUSE

Tiny House Tiny-house is a socio-environment movement that advocates living simply in small homes. The project was to design this concept of simple yet resourceful living as an innovation of maximum usable space in minimum footprint, thus redefining sustainability.

2016 Academic Project Urban Design Studio Pod Housing Individual

Home is a domain that is intimate to all of us. Beyond its everyday function as a physical shelter for people and their activities, it connects with its user on a personal and emotional level. The modern day scenario of environmental and financial concerns along with the desire to have more freedom has led people to follow simpler and efficient ways of living. With the rapid growth of technology and smart living there lies an opportunity for efficient spaces with the feeling of homeliness and personal touch points. Home is not a place... it’s a feeling ! It's not about how big the house is. It's how happy the home is!

01

Tiny house is a living organism that interacts with its environment. The pod adapts to a variety of environments and fades in the social, cultural, technical and economical conditions of its surroundings and most importantly, it offers a strategy to accommodate change and evolution. Tiny house is designed for the man of the future. A man who needs a place to sleep, to work, to communicate and mostly a place where he can mediate, feel comfortable, relaxed and creative. With roof top solar panels and steel structure the Tiny house is an energy-efficient and a self- sufficient pod. Less house more home !

Technology is integrated in the core of the design of Tiny House with smart features that conforms with the millennial lifestyle. Equipped with modern day artificial intelligence, Tiny House is operated via an iPad, just fix it to the flying station and one can fly anywhere, at anytime to anyplace. A futuristic concept that enables to design your interiors in your own way. Log onto the iPad, navigate to a destination, press the eject button and bam you’d be landed down with the central hover board and the pod will then park itself until you log onto your iPad and call it for pickup. It’s that easy and awesome. Living small, yet Living it All.

2018 / INSTITUTIONAL PROJECT // UNIVERSITY PLANNING

University Planning + Library Design The site for the university campus is located in sector-25, Chandigarh, India, abutting the Punjab University and the Vidya Marg. The project was to design a sustainable university campus that has the potential to be platform for various interlinked activities for students.

2018 Academic Project Institutional Project Master Plan Layout With: Rachit & Gurvir

University Planning supports the University's academic mission and strategic vision by providing professional guidance for the long range planning of the physical environment as well as leveraging space to its highest utilization. A “user friendly university design proposal adapting to the needs of both the people inhabiting within it and visiting it. The Master Layout Plan highlights the placement of different building blocks of different streams. A strong emphasis has been laid on microclimate, vehicular movement, pedestrian accessibility, daylight, visual connectivity, economic viability, and sustenance.

07

A pedestrian friendly planning with well defined and planned Vehicular Circulation system and a systematic solution to parking requirements. Commercial zones have separate service entries and parking area. The Elevated Road / Flyover on the main arteries connecting the four Round - Abouts is the most prominent planning feature of the campus as it helps create a Pedestrian Plaza connecting all the Academic Blocks, the Student Centre, the Administrative Block, the Library, the Sports Complex and the Auditorium. Special emphasis has been laid on the safety and security and convinience of pedestrian users and cycle tracks.

All Academic Blocks, Library and Administrative Block, Hostel Blocks have been placed on North - South axis to exploit north light and cut down heat from south side. Hostels are different campuses in themselves -independent and have been provided near to the academic blocks for the convenience of the students and teachers. Centrally located Athletic Field / Playground / Indoor Sports Complex is very easily approachable from all zones. Residential Quarters are placed in the south-west pocket having independent entry and exit.

2018 / INSTITUTIONAL PROJECT // LIBRARY DESIGN

Library Design The project was to design a library building for the university campus that can hold upto 50000 volumes of books thus providing the users from every department the material they want at any point of time.

2018 Academic Project Institutional Project Individual

A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. Designed to accommodate more than 400 users at a given time, the design proposal provides for physical or digital access to material. The architecture models the austerity of deconstructivism in combination with hap hazard placement of building blocks. Its subdued palette contrasts with the bright colors and lights of the surround area of the university campus. Geometrical building plan has been used to define a pragmatic approach to the design.

15

The Library Block has been placed right in the Heart of the campus and is easily approachable from all academic blocks through Pedestrian Plaza during the University Study hours. It is also very conviniently approached by Elevated Corridor and Elevated Parking lot at any hour of the day. The Elevated Parking lot helps bye - pass the silent reading zone of the Library Building. The L - shaped Atrium Walls provides a buffer between the users of the Library and the Pedestrian Student Plaza of the University Campus and acts as an aesthetic design element attracting users towards the library.

Every floor is divided in the form of separate building form having their own character providing the user with an emotional experience and the feeling of the aura of the space designed. The Reading areas on every floor has been consciously designed to exploit the north side - glare free natural light so as to avoid heat and also to give comfort to the users inside. The ground floor has the admin block with open and private reading areas on the first and second floor and a coworking space equipped with computers, live stage show lectures, music and piano and a cafĂŠ.

2018 / COMMERCIAL PROJECT // APPLE CORPORATE OFFICE

Apple MNC Design The 5000sqm. office site is located in sector-99, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, an upcoming industrial and commercial hub of India. The project was to design a headquarter office building for Apple Inc. which is an American multinational technology company .

2016 Academic Project Commercial Project Multi-National Company Office Design Individual

Apple Inc. the leading multinational technology company required a workspace design that would foster collaboration and transparency in their growing company and challenge their creativity. The design program was focussed towards understanding the basics of structure systems for a multi-storey building. The workspaces designed are in accordance with the modern lifestyle in the urban sprawl. The design of the office building is in sync with the ideologies and influences of the company. The three-floor headquarter building has a total area of 3450 square meters.

19

The ground floor is lifted 2 meters higher to emphasis the vertical scale of the building. The facade is enriched to form a classic segmental proportion. It embraces the entrance square by its curve layout and expanding shape of the Apple logo. With the curtain wall system it creates an image of simplicity and decency. Light pours in to bring a delicate and comfortable working atmosphere. Inspired by the curves and cuts the building has been provided with a special form of the Apple Inc. Logo. The building embodies an open attitude of the company. Employee’s have an emotional attachment with the building form and function.

Inspired by the curves and cuts the building has been provided with a special form of the Apple Inc. Logo. A green building by nature proceeds in the form of steps with terrace gardens at every rising floor. The building designed in curves has open work areas for every department in the office with lots of spaces for collaboration and socializing, including a game room, a cafeteria, and the open terraced break off zones at every floor. Keeping with the essence of Apple all interiors have been done pure white. Light is a transparent media, curve is an expression of form, and building is a massive subject. I’ve tried to connect all of them.

2018 / DESIGN COMPETITION // SOA

School of Architecture To shed new light towards the design and articulation of the form, space and order of an institute, the competition was to inspire, identify and innovate the countless cultural and architectural layers of institutional spaces in an urban vertical fabric.

2018 Design Competition Archdux With: Ujjwal Mittal

By our design we tend to preserve our Mother Earth and help those lifeless mountain structures standing there in their place and help the mankind by showering their beauty of green fields and rich atmosphere.

%PXOXBSET

25

This design approach seeks to intervene the process of mining, turning it into a mere "site clearance and earth work phase" to allow buildings to be erected within, adapting to the sophisticated and ever so beautiful terrain of the karst topography. These towering natural monuments withstood the tests of time, until humans began to mine their substances. We thought to construct our school of architecture within the hollow mountains and go vertically downwards thus showing respect to the nature for their contributions to the human race and make students feel the importance of how architecture tends to change the surrounding world.

7FSUJDBMMZ

An architecture institute is the epicenter of architectural design all across the world. The environment, knowledge, education, exposure and ethics absorbed by an individual at an architectural institute indirectly defines the future of the entire mankind and sets the benchmarks for his/her upcoming career. Building tall structures with heavy foundations requires the use of various scarce resources that necessitates the mining and destruction of huge mountains and soil forms. Such constructions benefit Mother Earth with less land use by taking away all its scarce and non-renewable resources.

2017 / DESIGN COMPETITION // PARIS RIVERSIDE RESTAURANT

Paris Riverside Restaurant Paris and the entire country of France is world-famous for its cuisine, with a non-exhaustive list of delicacies and culinary systems. The competition demands to design a new 21st century restaurant and wine bar on the promenade along the River Seine in Paris.

2017 International Design Competition Archasm Restaurant Design With: Mohit Bhoria

We have sought to create an architectural icon along the River Seine, that will become a popular destination for the residents and everyone who visits the city. Volumes and Facades are the initial attractant in a restaurant space. The design proposal is very unique and innovative in all respects and invents new ways to provide an overall sensory experience to the customers. We’ve experimented with unique materials, volumetric compositions layout systems and other transitional spaces to make it a new prototype and exemplary typology that will become an active gastronomical hub in the heart of the French capital.

29

In Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang ( 陰陽 yīnyáng, lit. "dark-bright", "negative-positive" ) is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Many tangible dualities (such as light and dark, fire and water, expanding and contracting) are thought of a physical manifestations of the duality symbolized by yin and yang. So, the question arises what if there is a state where the yin dominates over the yang or vice versa.

In this particular project we tried to answer to this very question. As the modern-day brutal architecture is slowly conquering over the traditional and culturally influenced architecture. With Amalgamation of both worlds, the project in itself, is defined as a cubical structure, depicting the sorrow that the vintage brasserie today faces.

2018 / NASA // ANDC 2018

ANDC 2018 “Untraversed” was the theme released by NASA for the year 2018. The design brief intends to explore, identify and re-interpret liminal/transitional spaces in their respective context with a vision to inform a society.

2018 Academic Project National Association of Students of Architecture Design Competition Group

Architecture generate its presence when its creator does not really make a deliberate effort to do the same but modestly underlines the already present through it. Such is the power of such architecture that we do not even recognize their existence while using them. Liminality - literally the ‘threshold’ is deconstructive. Liminal spaces are those thankless transitional, in-between spaces which in backdrop to highlight or connect with the primary functional boundaries. They are not here and there i.e. does not belong to any category or reference point. “Liminality is the transitional period

35

or phase of a rite of passage, during which the participant lacks social status or rank, remains anonymous, shows obedience and humility, and follows prescribed forms of conduct, dress, etc.” It has shapeshifting attributes. Old identities dissolve and new perspectives are born. Between what we know and what we can't imagine, we are remade. These are the spaces that are traversed the most but unfortunately have been the ones too neglected the most in present times. Their importance lies in the fact that they not only have the ability to inform the context for the unique/landmark architecture but also traversed the

most but unfortunately have been the ones too neglected the most in present times. Their importance lies in the fact that they not only have the ability to inform the context for the unique/landmark architecture but also generates an essence of movement within a situation/project. Their Scale may vary from simply a passage within a dwelling to a street in a public realm. As said the road less travelled by makes all the difference we propose Liminal now Streaming..

2018 / PUBLIC UTILITY // POLICE STATION

Police Station This project was floated by the Punjab Police Association as a competition, aimed at redefining Police Stations through architecture. The project demanded scalable prototype design which would then be replicated at 9+ locations across the state in different contexts.

2018 Academic Project Design Competition Public Utility Project With: Kartikye Kareer

A lot of crimes go unreported in areas of the state where people lack awareness. In many cases people, especially women and children do not feel comfortable being in a foreign environment. It is the architecture that defines an emotional atmosphere of a place and space, creating a user-friendly environment for the people. The design proposal sought to provide police stations of Punjab a new identity of their own and promoting healthy behavior between public and police. The police authority demanded police stations to be equipped with proper security checks and vantage points.

41

The conceptual design for Punjab Police Station gives consideration to context and local character whilst providing Punjab Police an established civic presence. The design of the police station is influenced by an AK-47, the premium security weapon used by the police for the safety of the general public. The weapon of security represents Punjab Police reaching out into the community and the core values of integrity, leadership, flexibility, respect, support and professionalism. Vernacular materials have been used that enhance the architectural form.

The police station module has been pragmatically planned with the concept of deconstructivism to provide every different room a character of its own making it more public friendly and more inviting. Rooms provided with fluidic forms helps the user have a more fluidic mind set and a calm atmosphere. Security checks have been provided at the entry with waiting areas and cafĂŠ in reach of the general public. Munshi has been placed centrally with lock-ups facing directly oppsite. The watch tower is established to ensure proper security of the police station.
