CITY CENTER – AN URBAN LIFESTYLE CENTER , INDORE MADHYAPRADESH - INDIA

CITY CENTER - City centre is the area of a city where commerce, Entertainment , Shopping and Political power are concentrated , Urban city centers have combined both the shopping, learning and Recreational activities with entertainment to offer an overall experience to the visitors.

Lifestyle centers are also defined as a “Multi-purpose leisure - time destination” THE PROJECT Name of the project – City center Type of Project – Mixed-use (Commercial - Cultural) Location – Indore, Madhyapradesh , India Client – Reliance Infrastructure ltd.

ROLE The city centre are usually associated with shopping or retail. They are also commercial and political centre of hubs such as hotels and offices.

This thesis serves a role in architectural intervention that are symbolic to settlements as a whole and often contain best examples of architecture, landmark, statues and public realm.

AIM • To create a space which can form the node for holding and experiencing commercial, cultural and social activities.

• It is in a way a hybrid between a Convention centre or a Cultural hub and a Commercial centres at a much reduced scale.

OBJECTIVE 01| The objective behind the project is to understand the importance and design a Future proof city centre that is a commercial cultural and often a historical, political and geographical heart of the city.

02| To create a city centre providing an iconic image and a landmark to the city.

03| To take into account site considerations and climatic conditions.

04| To develop a greater understanding of inter relationship of variety of spaces, various characters public, semipublic, private, entertainment centre, commercial, administrative etc.

ARCHITECTURAL CHALLENGES OF THE PROJECT: • To explore the Symbotic character of commerce and culture • Explore the Inter-relationships of the spaces and the challenges of disparities cause by design which restrict spaces to particular segment of public.

• To evolve Future proof contemporary model of conventional Indian market.

• The project would try to explore the possible integration of the functions which usually exist at larger distances.

DESIGN STATEMENT THE STREET & AMPHITHEATRE – SHOPPING | ART EXHIBITION| LIBRARY |CULTURAL CORRIDOOR The street gets transformed from the historic architecture style to contemporary architectural style . The greek agora, are considered as the modern streets while the roman forum, as the modern urban gathering spaces.

COMMERCIAL COMPLEX – OFFICES | ROOF PLAZA |KIOSK As a future proof design focus was to provide the best comfort and luxurious lifestyle to the people of indore by improvising and maximizing the pedestrain movement that connects ground at different levels through roofplaza to sky walk with offices at varoius floors and to get the north daylight in the building BUSINESS HOTEL – CONFERENCE |SUITE | BANQUTE |MEETING HALLS The research helped to meet the needs of basic building elements and the services in hotel , this was done by maximizing the day lighing ,orienting ventilation and a good range of views and vistas through designing The stepeed balconies and 2 giant structures joining through the bridge connected at the lower levels with sky walk providing the best luxerious business facilities SHOPPING COMPLEX – SHOWROOMS | KIOSK |MULTIPLEX |AUDITORIUM Customers are missing in indore user structure , it was important to study the past & present methods of shopping to generate the best possible solution to commercialize indore in better way.

Shopping has not only been to lower levels but hasbeen improved by providing pedestrain connections through roof plaza , skywalk , bridge, cultural coridoor ,street shopping at different levels of site .

SOLUTION “A FUTURE PROOF – EFFECIENT APPROACH FOR A BETTER TOMORROW” TO REHOLD SHOPPING IN MALLS AND CENTERS & URBAN SPACES WITH LUXURIOUS LIFESTYLE By creating various multi-utility complex that is the confluence of diverse intrests - A hub of activity - A breathing space for people - A fantasy land for kids - A generation-next hangout - A day destination center

01 ATTRACTORS Regarding the branding of Indore as a multi cultural / clean city, thereby emphasizing the different cultures will remain the main attraction for the people outside and with in indore MAIN NODE/ GATHERING PROGRAMS/ LANDSCAPE/LANDMARK

02 CONNECTION City center is proposed on the one of the mostgrowing zone of the city , connections into the site are to be improved by new structures of street ,pathways , landscape , waterscape in order to breakdown outeredges.

SITE LOCATION: INDIA- INDORE, RELIANCE GROUND INDORE : A commercial hub, Trade center and a well-developed residential city in Madhya Pradesh in India, to provide composite society, for all income groups.

Region: Malwa District: Indore district Population: 32 lakhs

Reasons for choosing the site – Vijaynagarindore as a city center for indore is that it is one of the modern and Commercial /Recreational hub of indore and has a great impact to cater the public of the city at its center
