SCROLL DESIGNS CAST IRON SPINDLE DESIGNS

STEP #1:

Install scroll after stair is completely assembled.

STEP #2:

Fit each scroll in between spindles and mark both the scroll and the spindle where the two intersect, in four places.

STEP #3:

Drill a 9⁄64" pilot hole in the spindle and a 7⁄32" clearance hole in the scroll at each point marked. (These holes cannot be predrilled at the factory because each stair installation is different.) Hint: For drilling the holes in the scrolls, support the design on a narrow piece of wood. SEE DIAGRAM 2

STEP #4:

Fasten the scroll to the spindle with the #10 x 3⁄4" sheet metal screws provided. Continue procedure until complete.

STEP #1:

Drill a 7⁄32" hole through the center of the band at the top and the bottom of the designs. SEE DIAGRAM 3

STEP #2:

Position the design over the 3⁄4" spindle with the bands on the outer sides, leaving an equal space on the top and the bottom, mark the location of the two holes.

STEP #3:

Drill two 9⁄64" holes through the outer surface only, of the railing spindle.

STEP #4:

Secure the cast iron design in place with the two #10 x 3⁄4" sheet metal screws provided. Continue procedure until complete.
