Great Performances at the Met: Dead Man Walking Nolly on Masterpiece

American composer Jake Heggie’s masterpiece, the most widely performed new opera of the last 20 years, makes its highly anticipated Met premiere in a haunting new production by Ivo van Hove. Based on Sister Helen Prejea’s memoir about her fight for the soul of a condemned murderer, Dead Man Walking matches the high drama of its subject with Heggie’s beautiful and poignant music and a brilliant libretto by Terrence McNally.

Free screening in Lexington of ‘The Legacy of Black Horsemen’
A free screening of The Legacy of Black Horsemen is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Wednesday, March 27, at The Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center in Lexington. The hour-long KET documentary tells the stories of Black jockeys, trainers, owners, grooms, and exercisers in the 1800s whose contributions helped lay the foundation for the Thoroughbred industry. Teaching young learners about computational thinking
KET Education recently partnered with the Kenton County Public Library to present an early childhood learning session at the SWON Summer Planning Conference in Cincinnati, which serves libraries in Northern Kentucky. The session focused on teaching children how to use computational thinking to solve everyday problems and build early literacy skills.
Christian County students learn about media production
Students in the media production pathway at Christian County Public Schools in Hopkinsville recently took part in a KET workshop in which they received hands-on instruction in video production. The students also met with Laura Rogers, a multimedia journalist with KET’s Kentucky Edition, who talked with students about careers in media and related fields.
Young Writers Contest accepting submissions until March 31
