Organic Waste Collections

Organic Waste Collections • Seperate organic waste collections will lead to: – less greenhouse emotions – creation of resources from waste – reduction in the amount of waste going to landfill – meeting of EU targets

Organic Waste Collections • Meetings with Local Councils • Details will be communicated via a nationwide communication campaign • Bins and bags will be distributed to each and every household

Organic Waste Collections • Monitoring by Wasteserv will be available in each locality. • Purpose is to guide the collector and inform residents if the wrong bag is taken or wrong content is disposed in the organic bag. • Participation exercises will gauge the participation rate of every locality.

Shift towards Sustainable Waste Management • Local Councils play a pivotal role in achieving this change. • Local Councils are: – Ultimately responsible for waste collection in their locality. – The first point of reference of residents

Shift towards Sustainable Waste Management • Local Councils can: – Carry out dissemination of information to residents – Take up initiatives to achieve sustainable waste management in line with the waste hiearchy – Directly benefit from sustainable waste management practices
