This is an examination of the current refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East. The island is an attempt to both control the border between the United Kingdom and France and to simultaneously help the refugees on their journey to safety. The Island acts as the new border control point between Calais and Folkestone while also providing shelter for refugees crossing the border and getting a visa for the UK.
The buildings displayed here are different functional spaces on the island. There are sleeping quarters, security checks, donation centers, food courts, watch towers, and other buildings that are necessary for the functioning of the island as a temporary home for the refugees and as a public border crossing site.

ILED SECTION
After the first stage of the refugee project our group’s concept was chosen and developed further by the entire tutorial group. The border crossing sequence was broken into four distinct steps: The Eurotunnel entrance in Calais, the tunnel station connecting the tunnel to the third step, the island, and finally the end of the railway tunnel in Folkestone. Ways of transporting the refugees both legally and otherwise were devised as a part of this stage in the project. These are diagrammed on the previous page.

Located in the Trastevere region of Rome, this museum is as integral to its site as it is to the deep and ancient history of the city. The museum is built on the site of a centuries old papal armory that serves as a special exhibition space for the museum.

This project was set up as a competition to design a new middle school, high school, and college. This school is to be an inclusive art school for many forms of the arts. Being located next to the existing Carriageworks complex the building should address issues of educational teaching style and modes in the architecture itself. The different diagrams on the page opposite are the transformation of different teaching styles into a collection of classroom typologies. The building is also set up a park that is open to the public outside of school hours and is for use exclusively by students during the day.

Norman Bus Terminal & CafĂŠ Project Location: Norman, Oklahoma, USA Partner: Ian Ruhnke
University of Oklahoma, Design V, Fall 2015 Professors: Jay Yowell, Dr. Khosrow Bozorgi
Located adjacent to the University of Oklahoma‘s duck pond, this bus terminal acts as a connection point between the city of Norman’s bus system and campus. Housed within is a cafe, restroom facilities, and other ammenities for passengers and park patrons alike. The large roof structure undulates to create view points and shading, with an angle over the bus platforms that is designed to shade the sun during the summer months and allow the sun underneath during winter months.

This was an analysis of the details and construction of the facades of a building on the UTS campus. The facade design was first broken apart and diagrammed. Next, the facade design was manipulated systematically as demonstrated on this spread. There are also explanations and diagrams of how the new facade would be able to be constructed, using either the same or a different structure to what actually exists.
