An intergral part of any project is the mapping of its context , in the case of lalbaug the mappng of its 11 days of festivities. The mapping intervention takes place from the first day till the 11th, analysing the governance structure , flow of people and architectural as well as urban transformations. One such analysis found below is the festive analysis of splitting the ganpati days into the the ethos of a festival 1- Euphoria 2- Consumption 3- Reversibility

ELEVATION RETURN OF THE OBJECT AS THE POST INDUSTRIAL INDIA DECAYED INTO FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENT METHODS OF PRODUCTION IT LEFT BEHID THE RUINS AND STORIES OF THE MILLS AND THEIR URBAN RITUALS , THUS REVIVING THE FORM OF THE MILL WAS THE RETURN OF THE OBJECT.

OMNIPRESENT SCREENS THESE SCREENS MAKE THEIR APPEARENCE THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING , PRESENTING THEMSELVES WITH THE OPPOURTINITY TO MERGE WITH TEH ONTOLOGIES OF TWO OR MORE DISTINCT PROGRAMS PLACED WITHIN THE BUILDING.

FUNCTIONALITY OF THE OBLIQUE TAKING OFF FROM THE THEORIES OF CLAUDE PARENT , AND EXPLORING A NEW EXPERIENCE IN MOVEMENT . THE THESIS CHOOSES TO EXPAND THE NEW WAYS OF SITUATITING MOVEMENT IN A SITE AND CONTEXT THAT HAS ALWAYS PRESENTED ITSELF AWAY FROM CONVENTIONAL URBAN FUNCTIONALITY.

SWENTRI Sawentri currently has a population of approximately 2.000 persons and is anticipated to grow to over 4.000 in 2040. Sawentri is an important religious town and hosts the Annakuta Mahotsav Mela. Jai Jhoolni Mela and Phagotsav Mela annually festivals which attracts over one lakh visitors annually. For the village. a comprehensive prepared Development Plan has been created considering a 25 year horizon period. The Development Plan includes a environmentally sensitive land use plan that identifies developable and Eco-sensitive parcels of land in and around the village that require to be preserved. Plans for efficient and environmentally sustainable management of civic infrastructure considering the existing and 25 year horizon period has been planned. A transportation plan has also been developed that considers improves connectivity within the village and the surrounding areas and also makes special provisions for the movement of visitors/tourists during the festival.

On developing the concept of patterns over landscape the approach applied was that of situating the elemts of the mill , its history and the nature of the context around it . The Mills vs History vs The Context The Mills A vactant land that holds memories , an object that is far to familiar as itself than an intervention. maintaining its essence and using its rustic nature , it was decided that the building and its objects be preserved keeping the it as a part of the heritage and adding lighting for the emphisis of the building . The History The History of the mills is both filled with joy and sadness , events from the histori nature of the mills was translated to landscaps both hard and soft in nature. elements such as the garden 130 resonate the idea of 130 mills being present during its peak , 130 rocks for 130 mills. The Context A joggers park as well as a recreational park has been created in order to populate the once isolated and dererted landscape of the mills making it safe and creating a sense of community.

There once was the problem of a resort , Where landscape was plenty and architecture needed a thought. What is the narrative we must find to create utopia or something sublime , could it possibly be between these lines. If people come from the city what should they find , the farmers aesthetic or what post- modernism defined. What is the function we must define, should we make a new beginning or wait for the proper time, Is playing safe a modern necessity or is it the curse of what we call commodity. Who are the people that need to rest, Is that important or just an advertisement crest, What if I did not want people to have “typical fun� ,What else could then be done. Circumstance is a commodity that we must notice , before the world puts it up as a cash cow and milks it unnoticed. I hear a man with an ailing back , I hear an old women with a stick and a knitting bag , I see a mother tired and needing rest , and I see a family tired of the modernist crest If circumstance is the need of the hour , then why not built a resort using these powers. The site is a wave of many shore lines , each hits the shore with a new story to define. We create then a new type of resort , to help circumstantial needs and commodity ignore. Ignore we cant commodity , but decrease we can its power , to stop what is mediocrity and explore.

GAUDI BOX Antoni gaudis works could be considered as an unusual formal transformation of grids and structural logics of nature. His bone gothic structures bring about an interesting way of segmenting grids. Many a times he refered to the onset of nature as the driver of from and not a higher entity. His trust in natural ways of form finding would lead him down a path which could allow him to perform transformations in form to an extent that his structures seemed to be grown. The project involved the formal movement of grids to attain a form. This form was to be then worked upon further by adding the factorts of pulling or pushing certain points on set grid. This kind of excercise when applied to clay led to the creation of a “gaudiesque� structure.
