CREATIVE DIRECTOR DEAR LADIES,
Glam on the Go
As I enter into the third issue of my LAPALME as co-owner/ creative director, I really want to hear your voices. When I first came on board in November, I wanted to give you a curated experience that you could enjoy and learn from. I know we are headed in the right direction when you tell us that you love this shoe or have been looking for that product. Even though my background is in fashion, I am quickly discovering that my future life is more about enhancing your lives. In this issue, I wanted to celebrate some of my most feminine loves. The color pink and florals are a big part of our theme. One celebration for LAPALME is hot new star Kristen Gutowski. We spent a fun-filled afternoon together with her modeling this season’s most amazing clothes. Kristen stars in Containment – about a virus that spreads across Atlanta. No one is allowed to leave. After my day with Kristen, I didn’t want to leave. She is incredible. Speaking of incredible, our cover star is not only the sweetest-pinkest girl I know, she is a goddess. Inside, Carmen Electra shares her stories about Prince discovering her. As I heard her tales, I knew my idea to transform her into a princess was the right way to go. I hope everyone loves the new issue as much as I do. Please keep the comments coming, so that we continue to grow together.

Comedy babe Andree Vermeulen is becoming a familiar face, thanks to the success of TBS’ Angie Tribeca. The Steve Carell-created TV series isin its second season. On the show, Andree plays medical examiner Monica Scholls, alongside Rashida Jones who plays Angie Tribeca. The beautiful and funny actress talks about her life in comedy and what we can expect on Angie Tribeca next season. LAPALME MAGAZINE: We love women in comedy. Did you always have a knack for comedy or was it a craft you developed over time? Andree Vermeulen: I have always had a knack for it. But I also grew my craft over time, as everyone who is serious about their profession does. I think I had a knack for it because I am a former fat kid with an upbringing that was full of traumatic, I guess, experiences. The combo of those things made me turn out pretty funny... I went to college for drama. I was pretty set on being a starving Shakespearian actor. But in that final year, I got to do one comedic scene. After, my advisor pulled me aside and told me I needed to pursue comedy. At the time, I was mad because I had spent so much time and money on a theatre degree. In the end, I started taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in N.Y.C. I have been doing comedy ever since.

LM: Angie Tribeca is in Season Two, what can we expect? AV: I love Season Two for very selfish reasons. One being that my character Dr. Monica Scholls is much more involved. We get to see the domestic side, loving side, and the brokenhearted side of Scholls. Because she’s so cold and robotic in nature, these emotions --if you can call them that-- are expressed pretty strangely. I also love Season Two because the whole tone of the show is a bit darker, dryer, more straight. Its like if you crossed True Detective with Airplane. There are still absurd things going on at all times, but our reactions to them and our delivery is played like we are in an intense drama. Oh, wait, I guess my dramatic training did come in handy! You know what? I’m not mad about it anymore. LM: You have to keep a straight face during some hilarious moments. How do you do that and who is the hardest person to stay in character with? AV: I think my dramatic training combined with playing a character, who is so far left field from my own personality helps me to keep a straight face. I kind of have to slip Scholls on like a suit of armor. You just slip into a suit of armor, right? Wake up, have coffee, slip armor on, go to battle, win, drive home, fumble with

your keys at the door (because of armor), get inside, slip armor off, call it a day. But yeah, she is so different from me that I turn it on and off like a light switch... When that Scholls light is on, it’s much easier not to break in a scene because she is so deadpan, serious, and cold. In real life, I’m very animated, bubbly, and smiley, which makes me more prone to laughter. There was one time I broke during Season Two and it was all Hayes MacArthur’s fault. He decided to deliver a line with a Jerry Seinfeld inflection and it came so out of nowhere that it made me lose it. LM: What does it mean for a show like yours when it hits Hulu? AV: It means that all my friends can finally watch it. LM: What’s next for you? AV: “I’m the voice of Ruffnut on How to Train Your Dragon the TV series on Netflix. And I’m trying to shop show ideas to networks, so I can make that mun, hun. I’m also really busy trying to get people on board with using words like “mun” in normal conversation.

ELISABETTA FANTONE CREATING ICONIC ART
At first glance, Elisabetta Fantone reminds you of a cross between Twiggy and Brigitte Bardot. But then, upon speaking with her, you realize that she’s all depth, incongruent truth, pop-culture, and has a sacred love of all things passed. Long blonde (or brown, at times) locks and a bubblegum smile are the visual hello, but on a deeper level, the artist from Montreal, Quebec is thoughtful and passionate. Based in Miami, you can walk the streets and find her murals throughout the city. It’s impossible not to see the layers in every one of her pieces. “It is in our capacity to distinguish and to differentiate images that allows beauty to subsist. The definition of beauty is shattered by society and is reborn in art.”

With the idea of transforming societal confines to the sacred, internal truth that lives within us, Elisabetta’s recent collection gives new breath to impactful artists from the past. Her collection of renderings features icons David Bowie, James Dean, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn. We took a moment to speak with this extraordinary artist-actress-wife-mom-to-two-doggies to find out more.
and summer outings. “Keep it light, exciting, and surround yourself with people you adore.” A whiz in the kitchen, she loves exotic salads, bold flavors, and fresh juices. And now that she’s exploring the whole raw food movement, her curiosity to make nature taste amazing is at its peak. When it’s time to get out, the beach is her favorite place, couple the beach with a dinner with friends and it’s her absolute!
First piece of art that took her breath away? Enthralled by “Narcissus” by Caravaggio, it’s a piece she believes is significant to present day. The painting of a man admiring his own reflection, hence the title, can captivate her attention for hours. Because, regardless of its simplicity, it continues to be a piece of discovery.

She went very joie de vivre with wanting to do a remake of the 1988 French film portraying artist, Camille Claudel. “As an actress I’m attracted to troubled souls and their inner struggle.”
Favorite part of the day? S h e’s torn between mornings and late nights. Mornings because it means new opportunities and new beginnings. But she also loves late nights because she gets to sit at home with her little family, relax, and binge-watch whatever happens to be her latest TV obsession. (At the moment, it’s House of Cards.) Her summer go-tos? We wanted to know what her daily go-to was for food

When Carmen Electra was a little girl, people would tell her that she was going to be a star. “So, by the time I could talk, when people would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would automatically respond, ‘a star,’” says Electra. And a star is what she’s become.
doubts. A blue BMW pulls up in front of the club and Power tells Electra that Prince’s brother is inside, and wants them to head to Prince’s house. “I was really nervous because I still didn't know whether or not to believe that this was real,” she says. Fortunately, Power was telling the truth.
Electra, whose real name is Tara Leigh Patrick, was born in Sharonville, Ohio --a normal, middle class neighborhood. Her guitar-playing father and singer mother always understood her creative desires. “My dad worked construction. The bulk of the work took place during the summer, so money would often get tight during the winter,” says the actress-model-dancersinger. “My mom worked extra jobs so they could pay for my dance classes.” Their investment paid off: When she was 9-years-old, Electra was accepted at the prestigious School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati to study ballet, modern dance, and choir.
“That first time I met Prince, he was very quiet,” she says. “I was very shy, so there was this awkward moment of us just kind of standing in front of each other. He broke the ice by asking me if I wanted to play pool.” Prince went to the piano and started playing ‘Do-Re-Mi’ from The Sound of Music. “I had a feeling he thought I didn't know the song, but it just so happened I had played Marta and Brigitta at two different dinner theatre productions of The Sound of Music in Cincinnati,” she says. Then Electra danced from him --the art in which she was most trained. Prince seemed impressed by her dancing, but days passed without her hearing back regarding the part in the band.
After graduating from high school, Electra got a job dancing at at King’s Island amusement park. Though she enjoyed the gig, she had Hollywood on her mind. “[At 18] I saved up my money, and took my mom to lunch and told her that I was going to fly to L.A. with a girlfriend to try it out for a week, to see if I even liked it.” She was having the time of her life on the dance floor in an L.A. nightclub, when Robin Power approached her. “She said she was the lead singer of a girl band Prince was producing,” Electra recalls. “She told me she loved the way I danced and that I had the look she wanted for the group.” Power told her that Prince was on his way to the club, and asked her if she wanted to audition for him. When he didn’t show, she began to have her
29
Electra assumed she’d been rejected. “I wound up getting my deal with Capitol Records, so I stayed in L.A. to record my demos,” she says. “During that time I got a call from Prince, who said he’d heard I was recording and asked to hear my songs.” After playing the songs for him, Prince told her he could do better. A few days later, she met him in a studio in L.A. “He wrote me a song called, ‘Carmen on Top.’” Should she like the song, she could record it. “I loved it, but I reminded him that my name was Tara. He told me, ‘You look like a Carmen, so, to me, you’re Carmen.’” Though the song was never released, the new name stuck. She was now officially Carmen Electra.
Not long af ter, Electra accepted Prince’s invitation to move to Minneapolis and signed a record deal with Paisley Park Records. Prince produced and wrote her first project, directed her videos, and styled her looks. Living at Paisley Park was utterly surreal, Electra wistfully recalls. “It looked like you were in heaven and a magical unicorn was going to come running around the corner,” she laughs. “Everything in Paisley Park was pastel and light and fluffy and dreamy. You just felt like you were in another world --a world that Prince created.” Eventually, their platonic relationship shifted to a romantic one. “He was so mysterious, but one of the wittiest people I’ve ever met,” she says. “He was simply one-of-a-kind.” When Prince went on his Diamonds and Pearls Tour in Europe, Electra was his opening act. “It was so cool to have my own band and to open up for Prince in these arenas all over the world,” she says. “I just couldn't believe this was my life.” When the tour ended, the pair returned to Minnesota. However, Electra felt an urge to move back to L.A. to be exposed to more career opportunities -- so, she moved. Eventually, Prince gave her an ultimatum: move back to Minneapolis and continue to have his career assistance, or stay in L.A. and be completely on her own. “At the time I thought I was crazy… Deep down, I felt like I needed to prove to myself that I could do this without anyone’s help.”
30
Life was brutal for a while. “I lived in a rough neighborhood, and I would walk down the street in fear and count change to use a payphone…” Despite being in a rut, Electra kept meeting new people in L.A. who suggested she try acting and modeling. She started going to auditions. “I got rejected over and over, and sometimes I would be so nervous that I would just leave without even doing it,” she confesses. “Eventually, I started to get little jobs here and there. The ball started rolling and didn’t stop.” From acting in Baywatch and hosting MTV’s Spring Break to headlining the White Party in Palm Springs and dominating the covers of Playboy, Electra achieved her dream of finding her own way. Making it on her own is her proudest accomplishment. The multifaceted star is still going strong. She recently released her own fragrance in the U.K., and she’s heading back to the studio to record new music soon. Electra will never forget the impact Prince had on her life and her career. “As an artist and as a person he was so extraordinarily generous… I’ll always be grateful that he believed in me and took a chance on me.” Electra is not surprised that his passing has sent a wave of sadness across the entire world. “It’s hard for everyone, from the people who knew him well to the people that never even met him, because he touched everyone’s life in some kind of way with his beautiful spirit and his powerful music.”

HOW TO ACHIEVE THAT
HOLLY WOOD SMILE
Whether you’re a true beach babe or trying to achieve beachy waves sans the ocean, use R+Co Rockaway Sea Salt Spray to create ocean spray texture to your hair. It works on dry or damp hair --just spray it into your palms and work the product into your scalp. Using a large barrel curling iron, curl small sections of your hair, then gently brush out the curls with a large paddle brush.
NEW YORK CITY’S DR. SHAWN SADRI DMD TALKS COSMETIC AND GENERAL DENTISTRY LAPALME MAGAZINE: What is the myth behind the Hollywood smile? SHAWN SADRI: Everyone wants a beautiful, perfect smile --they just don’t know how to achieve that. After their first visit, they realize they need to basically take care of the health of their teeth. They need to make sure they don’t have cavities and have proper gum work. Most of the time, people expect or want the quick fix, whitening, or slapping some veneers on --then you get a beautiful smile. We are just not about that. LM: So, is it about the health of your mouth firsT? SS: First, floss twice and brush at least two or three times a day. You need to floss at least once a day. Good dental health is the first step to achieving the Hollywood Smile --that includes discussing whitening or maybe veneers, depending on your desired results. If you don’t take care of your dental health first, your aesthetic work, like veneers, may look nice on the outside but underneath your teeth may be full of cavities and tooth decay.
LM: What’s the number one thing people want when they come in? SS: Whitening. They want to have white teeth, but they still want to drink their coffee and red wine. They want a quick fix. If you want white teeth, you might have to drink coffee through a straw, drink red wine with a straw, cut back on tea. It’s something you have to do to always have white teeth, instead of having veneers put on. LM: Great celebrity smiles, how do you tell who has great work done? SS: A great smile doesn’t look like it’s had cosmetic work done. Scarlett Johansson has a really nice smile. It looks very natural. It could be natural. We don’t really know, and that’s the beauty of it. For the Hollywood Smile, you don’t want big, white Chiclets, obviously. People would know you have veneers, and you don’t want people to look at you and know you had work done. You want it to look like porcelain, like a piano with a white keyboard. A good job is that there’s no difference from the porcelain, whereas a bad job looks like chalk.
UV rays can be harmful to your skin and hair. Protect your hair from the sun’s damaging rays with Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer. This sulfate-free, lightweight oil is infused with six oils that protect against breakage and UV rays and can be purchased for only $11.
SS: In our office, when new patients come in, we do a full exam, x-rays, photos, which is really important. If we are doing a makeover, we talk with the patient about what they are trying to achieve and give them that. We’ll take photos and impressions before we start. Then, we’ll ask them what they’re looking for and communicate this with the lab. Then we shape the teeth, mold some temporary veneers, make sure they are happy with that and make the necessary adjustments. Then, we can go through the final part: the porcelain veneers. Most clients are happy because there is communication between the whole lab, the patient, and me --the doctor.
It’s easy to get your long locks tangled while body surfing in the waves. A fishtail braid is the perfect solution to mane-taining your hair as you splash about in the ocean --and is appropriately named for the occasion. beGlammed founder, Maile Pacheco.. CURATED BY

SUMMER SIPS A LITTLE WINE-DUCATION
writer
ALLISON LEVINE

LOIRE VALLEY WINES & PHILIPPE CAHAREL
When we think of French wine, a certain provocative allure comes to mind. We think of elegance, romance, the French countryside, refreshing flavors, and of course, Champagne.
42
However, from champagne to sparkling wines, there is one region we recently discovered that we’re intoxicated with: The Loire Valley. While it’s home to some of the most beautiful, sultry – and affordable- sparkling wines, rosés and white wines, it is a contrast to neighboring Provence (known for rosés) and Champagne (known for sparkling). As summer escapes are upon us and our palates long for fresh, crisp flavors, the Loire Valley is a French region we are all too happy to explore.
So, where is the Loire Valley? In the heart of France. Known as the “Garden of France,” it spans 170 miles across the middle of the country. The abundance of vineyards, fruit orchards, vegetable fields, historic towns, and magnificent chateaus have placed the Loire Valley on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. And when it comes to wine, what sets the Loire Valley apart from any other growing region of prestige As Kaner explains, the is that they produce every style Loire Valley is a truly authenof wine – sparkling, rosé, white, tic wine region. Loire is a place red, and dessert. that invites you to sip with abandon, throw caution to the wind, We talked with Sommelier and get a whole lot of taste Matthew Kaner, Wine Director without having to forfeit your and co-owner of Augustine fortune. So, when the air gets Wine Bar and Bar Covell in Los thick with promises of bronzed Angeles about Loire wines. “It skin, sandy excursions, and is a region that offers diversity, way more time outdoors, try quality, and good value. It’s something new. Below is a litalmost impossible not to find a tle wine-ducation (we’re making wine you’ll like. They make sparit a thing): A few wines (mostly kling that is bone dry and has a rosé), tasting notes, food pairlittle residual sugar. They make ings, and more. rosé that will blow your mind with how dry it is. They make whites that are so dry the acidity makes your teeth hurt. And, they make Vouvray Moelleux that has so much acidity, your taste buds and brain can't even perceive how sweet the wine is. They make some of the most age worthy red wines on the planet. And their dessert wines from Coteaux du Layon grace some of the most important wine lists around the world. Show me another region in the world with the same amount of history and prestige that even touches that sort of diversity and I will bow down!”
43
LOIRE REGION: CHINON + SANCERRE The historic town of Chinon is home to almost-exclusively red wine made with cabernet franc and a small amount of white wine from chenin blanc. Sancerre is famous for it’s sauvignon blanc but surprisingly, both regions have a rosé that’s certainly worth a try.
SUGGESTION: Domaine de la Lysardière 2015 Chinon Rosé | $15 Made from 100% cabernet franc, this wine is a pink color with bright cherry and herbaceous notes. TASTING NOTES: The dry, mineral with undertones of caramel make it a match for grilled fish or charcuterie.
SUGGESTION: Sylvain Bailly, La Louée Rosé
LOIRE REGION: SAUMUR A small city with a famous castle, with hundreds of miles of underground tunnels that are now the cellars for the sparkling wines. This is definitely adventure-worthy. Chenin blanc and cabernet franc can be found.
SUGGESTION: Caves Louis de Grenelle Cuvée, Saumur Corail Brut NV | $22 Want to grill some juicy prawns with friends? This is your go-to. Made with one 100% cabernet franc, this wine will redefine your ideas of pink. It is the driest version of sparkling rosé with notes of blackberries, rocks, rain, and dirt all in one. TASTING NOTES: This wine has amazing acidity and pairs beautifully with lighter dishes.
2014, Sancerre | $20 This 100% pinot noir sparkling wine is peach colored with strawberry and mineral notes. TASTING NOTES: It has high acidity and a bright finish.
REGION: ANJOU Anjou is the home to Savennières, a fascinating dry Chenin Blanc. Red Anjou is made from cabernet franc, but definitely our pick was their Rosé d’Anjou.
SUGGESTION: Bougrier 2015 Rosé d’Anjou | $12 This is the wine you drink on a lazy day, whether the rain is falling or the sun is peaked. A seventh generation wine, it looks like the color of cotton candy and is made with the grapes grolleau and gamay. TASTING NOTES: With candy notes of sour cherry and sour watermelon, it pairs well with duck rillettes.

CHIARA CASIRAGHI
LAPALME MAGAZINE: Tell me about the moment you discovered your father’s secret love letters to your mother and what that meant to you. PATRICIA GUCCI: For some reason, she decided to give me these letters. It was hard to understand his writing... The words just bowled me over --the passion, vulnerability, devotion. I never saw that side of my father. He was not an extremely emotional man. He had a big temper… but he wasn’t somebody who would walk around talking about feelings. When I saw how he talked about his feelings towards my mother, it blew me away. I understood there was so much more to the story that I couldn’t even understand.

LM: When it came to writing this book, that is also so much about your grandfather Guccio’s life, was it a long process to obtain all the information? PG: We had to go even deeper into archives, books, and articles. It was a very lovely, interesting process. The dynamics between my father and him. At some point, I think, Guccio handed over the reins to my father with his blessing. Guccio was an incredible role model. He taught him so much. Everything was quite a lot of hardship for my father. To go from Rome. There were so many unknowns and the war. It wasn’t easy as it is today with [technology].… It was a huge undertaking. There was nobody who could keep up with him. He was one-of-a-kind. LM: You wrote that you and your mother were the only two people who knew the real Aldo Gucci, who was he? PG: He was so patient with my mother. With my mother, he loved for her to fuss over him. He became docile. The big lion, when he sailed into our life, became a lamb for a few hours… That was interesting to see that beautiful dynamic between them. In the last few years, I saw the pain he went through with everything that happened. He didn’t show that to the world... His whole body language changed when he came home. To see him that way was so terrible. He would pick himself up every day and face the world… He found the glass half full…

LM: You became the first woman to sit on the board of the company, tell me about your role? Was it a defining moment for you? PG: Yes, it was defining. There was a learning curve. I started as an Ambassador, going out and about because I knew how to speak well and I could put on some Gucci clothes. I was a younger version of how the Guccis looked in the book. I was happy to do that. I had acting aspirations, so I wasn’t too shy in front of an audience. I started dabbling with the windows and my father saw that I had a very good eye. He enjoyed seeing how I created things... It was the beginning of how window displays started developing. I said, “Daddy, I would love to be able to play with the clothes.” Now, they call it styling. That led to helping with the fashion shows. Then, I was placed on the board by my father. I learned a lot in those meetings, but there’s a lot I didn’t understand, so I sat there and did as I was told. I was the first family member, who was a female producer. It was quite an honor.

LM: When you are part of a big dynasty, does it have a great bearing on how you define your life and who you are? PG: It was very hard. When my father had to sell the company, to be a part of that moment, it was epic. I don’t know what the hardest thing my father had to go through: jail or selling the company. They were all equally huge and devastating situations. When I went to New York at 18-years-old, I realized how important Gucci really was. In America, there was nothing like it. Everybody wanted a piece of Gucci. When they actually met a Gucci family member, you could just see a whole different reaction… Having lived this incredible ride, being in this company --that was exciting. There were so many things going on. Then suddenly it was over. That was a huge adjustment. The new regime changed things. I look back and I’m very proud in having those opportunities I had.
Summer calls for fresh, dewy, glowing skin that radiates youth, and vibrancy. Heat it up with a lineup of products that protect, moisturize and illuminate your skin. When it comes to the summer months, your makeup mantra should be similar to that of your clothing this time of year: less is always more. Shelf the heavy-duty foundation and opt for a lightweight, tinted moisturizer and a powder bronzer for some added color. Keep it simple with multi-purpose products like Charlotte Tilbury’s beach stick that can be used on your cheeks and lips. And finish your look with a peach coral lip stain on your pout. You are good to go! writer

When she’s not acting in Containment, Kristen Gutoskie is anything but dark; she’s elegant, upbeat, and self-assured. Though the L.A. transplant says she’s been surprised at how noticeable her Canadian accent has been in southern California, she’s thrilled to be living her own “American dream.” “Growing up, I always assumed we were the same as the U.S. because we’re just above the border, and a lot of the television programs we consumed were American,” she tells me. “Culturally, I think Canada is more laidback, where people in the States aren’t afraid to use their voice and go get what they want.”
She started training again, and once she’d booked enough roles, she moved to L.A. Gutoskie currently also stars in Relationship Status, a series that explores love in the digital age. Each week, three new episodes are aired on Verizon’s free go90 App. “If you view every episode together it would be like watching a vignette feature film. It’s the same kind of world as Love Actually, where you’re separately following a bunch of different characters who then somehow show up in each other’s worlds.” Her dream role would be Sophie in Sophie’s Choice. She’s eager to be cast as an otherworldly character, and references Cate Blanchett’s ethereal portrayal of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings. “I’d love to become a chameleon, where I get to explore this new world and become this role.” As a singer, she’d love to keep taking on acting roles that incorporate music.
Gutoskie certainly falls into that go-getter category. When she was 10, Gutoskie was asked to sing in her first play. “I ended up having to play the part of a turtle,” she says, laughing. “From that role, my mother saw a spark in me and decided to enroll me in a modeling course and singing lessons.” An agent quickly took notice and began putting her in commercials. “I always felt This led to more roles in productions on Showcase, CTV, and Global. Her acting fire had been like acting was the way ignited, and her career was taking off. “I always felt like acting was that I could truly the way that I could truly express myself,” she said. “When you’re a kid, it’s hard. There’s bullying in express myself.” school, and acting was the place that was a real outlet for me.” Gutoskie continued acting through high school, but after graduating, she decided to go to university and take a break from acting. “I really wanted to develop myself outside of it, as it had been part of my life for most of my adolescence.” Over the next few years, she earned an honors arts degree in communications, and then went on to an exchange program in Australia.

On the flight back from Australia, Gutoskie sat next to a film producer who asked her what she was going to do now that she’d finished school. She told him she was apprehensive to return to acting, as she knew it was a difficult career in which to succeed longterm. “’You’ll never know unless you try,’” she recalls him responding. “I knew he was right. And, deep down, it was the only thing I’d ever seen myself truly doing.”
“I’ve done acting roles that combine music, and I wrote a song for the film I did last year, Dust Storm. But I’d love to do a project that combines these two passions on an even bigger scale.” She’s still chasing her music dream, though her acting schedule certainly makes the pursuit more challenging. “I do it when I can because things are so busy, but it’s always in my heart,” she says. “I just recorded a demo with a producer in Toronto, and I’m hoping to get an EP released at some point in the next year.” Gutoskie continues to work on her social media strategy @Aluvolution –a project dedicated to documenting acts of kindness and making them go viral. “This is an effort to make kindness the currency in the world. A love revolution of sorts.” Her plan is to use celebrity donations --autographs, paintings, downloads, etc.– to encourage youth to perform an act of kindness and document it on social media with the #aluvolution hashtag. Their act of kindness can be used as payment for the item. “It’s give and take, with the emphasis placed on the giving,” she explains. “Once a person performs a selfless act, their heart remembers it, and they want to do it again.”

POSITANO GET SWEPT AWAY Just like the lyrics of Alessia Cara’s “Wild Things,” we all want to let go and break free – and do it in style. This summer, as the summer months beckon your inner wanderlust, why not sit on the deck of a beautiful yacht surrounded by exquisite company, dressed in your prettiest twopiece while the sunshine basks in your fabulousness? Few places conjure your sophisticated ferocity quite like the Amalfi Coast. So whether you’re tapping into your inner Sophia Loren, stylishly dressed head-to-toe in vintage Versace or working those stilettoes and a sarong, it’s time to give in and go. “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone. Its houses climb a hill so steep it would be a cliff except that stairs are cut in it.”- John Steinbeck
The Amalfi Coast is known for exquisite fashion, luxurious living, and some of the most gorgeous views you’ve ever seen. Amalfi is more than just another Italian stop, --with its beaches adorned with mesmerizing backdrops, towering cliffs that house some of the most vibrant rooftops in all the world, and a wealth of art and culture-- it’s romantic, provocative, and historic. That said, when the words summer and yacht come to mind, few places in the world rival this destination. Because there are a number of reasons to appease your desire for the finer things in life, we decided to put together a list on how to experience everything this dream seascape has to offer, from living with total abandon to getting the most for your budget: Ready for total abandon? Your own private island in the middle of the most beautiful part of Italy for a week ought to do it. Starting at $250,000 a week, you can indulge on Amalfi Island with two yachts fit for 11 of your nearest and dearest and you. What else is included? Staff, service, catering… pretty much whatever you want. You can travel to Positano for a little shopping, retreat to Capri for a fancy dinner or have your personal chefs prepare whatever it is you’re craving. When you’re ready, head back to your own oceanfront house, swim in the pools, and enjoy their exceptional décor (surely, lots and lots of champagne will be flowing, too!). A little history on this blissful escape: As one of a cluster of islets facing Capri, it’s history dates back to Tiberius and Roman times. In the 1920s, it was transformed by the famous architect Le Corbusier from a fortification to a private hideaway featuring a large terrace garden looking towards the dazzling Amalfi Coast. Ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev later became its proprietor and most of his furnishings remain intact. It’s safe to say this will be worth every penny. So grab your bags, your entourage, and your sense of luxurious adventure and get ready to dive in.
