Troy Smith maple ridge motorsports frontman

MRM has been a family owned business since 1995. My vision has always been to provide a great selection of products and services that complement each other while maintaining a fun atmosphere for clients to enjoy our store. Skully started as an idea of a fun logo to express what Maple Ridge Motorsports is about and Graphix Unlimited made it happen. Priding ourselves in having great staff at the dealership, I wanted the same representation at events that we can’t always attend. This is when the MRMSkully race team was born. Our racers have been committed families that have been dealing with MRM for years, also awesome people that are starting their own families. Our objective is to have a great time at the races while promoting MRM and the products we sell. For over 20+ years, we have watched children come into the store and they can’t even see over the parts counter. These children are now starting their own families and sharing their passion for motorcycles with their children. It’s an honor to see our clients “who turn into friends” grow in life and courage. Respectfully, Troy Smith, MRM Owner

RYAN LOCKHART

Name: Ryan Lockhart Racer and Brand Manager www.atlasbrace.com Date of Birth: May 9, 1984 Hometown: Langley, BC I have been racing motorcycles for 25 years and have had the opportunity to race all around the world. I have been on factory teams, as well as many privateer teams over the years, and I finally found my home at Maple Ridge Motorsports in the fall of 2013. Being part of the MRM family has been a great fit for me since racing is more of a hobby and spending time with my family at the track. Troy and the gang keep it fun and relaxed and really bring out what this sport is all about: FUN. Last year was a good year for me, as I finished 2nd in the Future West Arenacross series and I won the Dash for Cash championship for the 3rd year in a row. I also made the trip to Walton, finishing 2nd in the Vet Master. The plan for 2017 is to hit up as many races as I can with team MRM and have fun along the way.

Devyn SMITH

I have been racing motocross since I was 4 years old. Along with motocross and arenacross racing, I do some trail riding with my Dad, and have even raced a few hare scrambles events in Kamloops. Hare scrambles are fun because you have to stop to refuel the bike and can change goggles. As long as I’m on my dirt bike, I’m happy. Off my dirt bike, I raise chickens and sell their eggs. This year, I also raised some chickens to slaughter to sell and to eat. If I’m not racing or cleaning my chicken coop, I’m playing with my dog, shooting pellet guns, fishing or playing video games. This year, our family drove to Ontario because I qualified to race the Parts Canada Walton TransCan event. My goal was to finish top 15 in 85cc 7-11, and I finished the three moto format with 9-16-8 scores for 10th overall, so I was very excited. The Supermini class has some very fast riders and older kids. On the way home, we went to Mount Rushmore. That was neat! The Future West BC outdoor series was fun this year too. I had good finishes in all my races and received the championship in 85cc 7-11 and Supermini classes. In 2017, we plan on racing some CMRC western nationals, the Amateur National Championship in Raymond Alberta, and the Future West Moto sanctioned motocross and arenacross events. Thank you to all my friends, family and sponsors that cheer for me! Maple Ridge Motorsports, Arai Americas, Atlas Brace Technologies, Dunlop Tires, Rekluse Canada, Ride 100%, FOX Canada, Next Components, Alpinestars, Matrix Concepts, Canadian Kawasaki, 2UNDR, Mongoose Machine, and Suspension Werx.

I have only been racing for the past year. I placed 4th overall in the Future West outdoor series in Open Beginner and 5th in Ladies. My most memorable moment was getting the holeshot in my very first race. Ever since then, I have been working on improving my riding and technique, it’s amazing how fast you can improve with facilities like Popkum motopark so close to home. I plan on hitting as many races as we can next year while setting my sights on a moto win and I hope to achieved a top 3 overall position in my 2 classes.

Cross Motorsports

After coming off a 2014 Deming Speedway 1200 Championship, Tyson Cross and the #09 Cross Motorsports, Maple Ridge Motorsports sponsored racing team was chomping at the bit to back it up in the 2015 race season. Bolting their fresh 1200 Kawasaki motor into a brand new Henchcraft Chassis proved to be a deadly combination! They topped their 2014 win total of 4 with an impressive 5 feature wins. However, a early season heat race fire put them behind 60 points which took them out of Championship contention. They ended up the season a very respectable 3rd in points. 2016 was a different story! Losing a clutch on night one, a motor a few weeks later put the team behind the 8 ball. But the race team continued to battle hard and earned a feature win. But the bad luck continued as it once again hit the team as Tyson got upside down, injuring his ribs, taking him out of contention for 6 weeks. The team came back with a vengeance! He first night back, they picked up their 2nd feature win of the season. But the bad luck would again rear its ugly head as the non wing races continued to haunt the team and Tyson was part of a heated battle that ended up in another crash that

Broke Tyson’s Ribs and injured his ankle, ending their 2016 season short. The Cross Motorsports, Fix Auto, Speedmart , Maple Ridge Motorsports, Lucas Oil, South Country Livestock race team is already in preparation to fight back and take back that 2017 Deming Speedway 1200 Championship! Thanks very much to Troy, Sandra and the Maple Ridge Motorsports team for their continued support in 2016 and over the years. Bring on 2017!

Darin Marr

Darin Marr DATE OF BIRTH: October 15, 1997 BIKE: KTM 350xc-f RACE NUMBER: 15 CLASS: Junior SERIES: British Columbia Off Road Racing Championships.

I started riding at the age of 3. My parents used to have to threaten me by saying they will sell the bike if I didn’t ride it. In 2010, I started racing the British Columbia Off-Road Racing Series. As the years went on, I got more serious about it, and that’s when I started talking to Troy and Sandra. They welcomed me to the Maple Ridge Motorsports racing team without many questions and I haven’t looked back since. My teammate and sponsor rep Ryan Lockhart, has been a huge help over the years with the support of Atlas Brace, 100%, and Matrix Concepts. In 2012 and 2013, I finished 2nd overall in the series. In 2014 and 2015, I finished 3rd overall. 2016 was a rough, busy year, not the best results at all, but it’s time to crack down for 2017 and come back fighting and hopefully grab my first championship. Plans for 2017 are already being lined up as I’m scheduled to hit the Desert 100 again to better my results from this year, which was 32nd out of 128 racers. Red Bull Rocks and Logs is on the list for this coming year as well. It’s not all about racing though with MRM, it’s about family. Without the family, nothing would be possible, from the support with racing to the support of my photography work. None of it would be possible if it wasn’t for all the family and friends that support both me and the growing sport of dirt biking. Thank you to all of my supporters: Atlas Brace, 100%, Matrix, Next, KTM Canada, Fox racing, Dunlop, Spoke Skins, and the Maple Ridge Motorsports family.

My first off-road dirtbiking race was in 2010 at the Zofka Ridge Hare Scramble in Hope and I have been hooked ever since! I enjoy every aspect of dirtbiking, especially the comradery with fellow riders. Good sportsmanship is very important to me. I ride a 2015 KTM 300XC and love every minute on the bike! Goals for next season: I want to join the very competitive Vet Expert class, and make the top 3, as I turned 30 this year. I got married June of 2015 to my beautiful and talented wife, (also Women’s 2013 BCORCS overall champion!) and on July 18th, 2016 we said “hello” to our amazing baby boy, Ryan Douglas Geary! We already have our KTM strider and can’t wait to bring him into the world of two wheels!
