JUNE 16, 2013 SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30 AM
Vital Congregations are identified by five main characteristics: 1. Vital Worship 2. Vital Lay Ministry 3. Vital Community (through small groups that study, pray, worship and serve together) 4 Vital Mission-ers 5. Vital Pastors During the past six weeks, we have focused on all but one, Vital Pastors. Today, we will share briefly about the role of the pastor. As you and I say our good-bye as Pastor and People, we open the door for new pastoral leadership and a new relationship. May God’s blessing be upon this church and upon Steve and Karen Wells as they come among you to lead. Pray for them. Speak to them with kindness. Listen to them with love. And Serve and Work together for the Glory of God. This is my prayer for you. Thank you, sincerely. Pastor Denise
A NOTE FROM FROM KATIE WEBSTER Pastor Denise received the following thank you note from Katie Webster and wished to share it with the congregation: Pastor Denise, Thank you so much for the beautiful quilt and kind note from you and the STGUMC congregation. I am back at work today and it was such a treat to see this sweet gift waiting for our girl. Olive will love curling up with the quilt – as will all of the other girls! The prayers and love from the community, the church, has meant a great deal to us over the last couple of weeks. Thank you for being part of that – and please pass on our gratitude to your congregation. In Christ, Katie Webster
KITS FOR VIRGINIA CONFERENCE ARE DUE TOMORROW, JUNE 17, 2013 Every year, the Virginia Annual Conference collects school kits, layette kits, sewing kits, and health kits to be distributed through UMCOR to children and families in need throughout the world. This is OUR opportunity to be a part! The directions for the kits are in the narthex. If you can assemble one or more kits, simply buy the items listed (and only those items, please), put them into a gallon size zip lock bag and return them to the church narthex by tomorrow. We also need to provide $1 per bag for shipping, so monetary gifts are helpful, too. Today, Sunday, June 16, 2013, we will dedicate the gifts to the Glory of God and they will be added to all the others collected from Virginia Annual Conference churches. Let’s take this opportunity to be a part of something God is blessing!
If you would like to contribute to the Sunday White Pages, please be sure to submit your entries no later than Wednesday at noon to be included in the upcoming weekend’s edition.
