3rd Grade Project - 2013
URBAN INFILL commercial/housing mentor : Ir. Budi Faisal MLA., MAUD. location : Jalan ABC, Bandung City, Indonesia
This project challenged us to design a multi-function building on a narrow 6 x 15 meters dimension that is flanked by two buildings. There are two functions for this building: DVD & magazine shop and private house. Since the building was located in a very dense commercial area, it is designed to have more open space within the building as a buffer between buildings for proper air circulation and natural lighting inside. The design also responds the context of the environment, especially its facade design.
SITE CHARACTERISTIC
ABC street is a shopping district in downtown of Bandung City that is known for selling electronic goods. This condition makes this area very busy almost all the time and it affects the development of the area which is not well planned. This makes the area feels -both visually and physically- disorganized.

FACADE CONCEPT Separation of public and private access begins from the entrance of this building. Public access is limited only to the second floor, while access to the third floor is blocked by door and pond.

MIXED USE BUILDING mixed use mentor : Himasari Hanan, Ir., MAE., Dr., Ing. location : Jalan Merdeka, Bandung City, Indonesia The development of Merdeka Street as a commercial district is potential for additional functions to complement the existing ones. In this project, design of this building is required to respond various problems such as relationship with surroundings, circulation problems, utilities, and various activites.

the concept for this project is urban corridor. This building is expected to be a corridor that is not only used as a crossing place but also a fun place to do many activities. The functions accomodated in this building are obtained by site-analyzing and observing target markets around this area. There are several functions adopted from the existing buildings: retails and hotels, but there are also new functions such as rental office and community-scale performance theater.

substracting the front mass to invite people to come in.
placing the tower with several considerations, such as orientation and view
vertical circulation system is separated between each function to avoid intervention of each function. The placement of connection paths between two masses which functions as retail area is made to create continuous horizontal circulation flow to all area.
The highest part of the podium can be uitilized as a rooftop garden for additional public space.

As a very front part of the building, this podium shoud be a main attraction. For the podium which faces the main road, the facade is designed to create a visual scenario. Even though the pattern is different, there is similar principle used in this facade design: strong vertical pattern as a respond to heritage bulding that is located near to this building which has a geometric facade.

ANTAPANI RESIDENCE housing mentor : Himasari Hanan, Ir., MAE., Dr., Ing. location : Antapani, Bandung City, Indonesia The aim of this project is designing a landed housing in a sub-urban area. The main goal is designing a siteplan for the housing. There are many essential aspects to be considered in this project, such as grouping the type of the houses, territoriality, wayfinding, hierarchy, and creating public facilities in the site.
the existing river that divides the site into two parts is used as a concept for designing this residential area. Design pattern is folllowing the river that serves as the main axis.
DESIGN STRATEGIES
optimizing the presence of the river by creating riverfront house type
placing public facilities on the area that is adjacent to the river
site hierarchy and road connection
utilizing river promenade as green corridors
ZONING & CLUSTERING

PRODUCTIVE HOUSE FOR FISHERMAN COMPETITION - 2013 UNIVERSITAS KRISTEN PETRA
PRODUCTIVE HOUSE FOR FISHERMAN housing location : Kenjeran, Surabaya City, Indonesia in collaboration with Arif Rachman Hidayat, Etsa Amanda, Putri Maharani brief of this competition is to design a home for fisherman which also can be utilized as a productive place for them to do their extra works, such as washing and drying fishes. The design also has to be able to answer the privacy related issues and relations with surroundings.
create a space to accomodate many productive activities (setting baits, fishing equipments storage, cleaning and drying sea products)
create a room as flexible as possible. Because the house size is small, the best way is to make an adaptable partition which can be adjusted anytime.
how? First requirement is fullfilled by dividing the function based on floor level. The first floor is used for living and the second floor is used for production area. Ramp as a connector is chosen to ease the user to bring sea products to be processed in upper floor.
