About The Artist
27 year old Kev Munday started his creative career painting graffiti with friends as an early teen. A decade on, his work still carries the raw energy of street art, blended with an intelligent graphic edge, gained through producing illustrations for clients including Walt Disney, Fracture Skateboards and Monster Energy. Describing his artwork as ʻthe offspring of people watching and imaginationʼ, Munday is inspired by styles as diverse as huichol art and kawaii graphics. Kevʼs unique creations have adorned merchandise products including furniture, skateboards and clothing. His art has been exhibited all over the world, in venues including The Southbank Centre, Summers Place Sculpture Gardens and Selfridges Ultralounge. His work has recieved praise from worldwide design press, including features in Elle Decor, Computer Arts and The Evening Standard. Having recently been named as one of Artfinderʼs top 10 artists of 2013 and collaborated with wallpaper brand Graham & Brown, Kev Munday is looking forward to many more years of watching paint dry.
About The Exhibition
ʻThe Way I See Thingsʼ features works in a wide variety of mediums including aerosol paint, acrylics, marker pens, laser etchings and digital illustration. Coming from a background as a graffiti artist, Kev paints incredibly fast, often creating large-scale public murals in just a few hours. This background also inspires him to work on unusual objects, using their shapes and textures to influence his art. ʻThe Way I See Thingsʼ includes a series of violins and an antique wooden church organ pipe, all hand painted with his content and colour rich compositions. Primarily drawing from his imagination, Mundayʼs work contains a child like quality and an element of humour, aiming to communicate as much to a 7-year-old kid as a serious art collector. Touring across several public art galleries in 2014, the exhibition is free entry, suitable for all ages and runs at The West End Centre daily from February 3rd - 28th. All purchased art work will be available for collection or delivery from the closing date. For any enquiries please contact Kev@KevMunday.co.uk
