REAL Physical Education Teacher’s Pledge I solemnly pledge to what I hold most dearly, that as a teacher I will practice my profession with honor and integrity. I will abstain from using teaching practices considered inappropriate and I will follow the standards and guidelines for my profession to the utmost of my power. Always reaching for excellence, I will continue to learn and enhance my teaching skills throughout my career. I will be a positive role model for children and youth and do all that I can to help them acquire the skills, knowledge and desire they need in order to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity. Administrator’s Pledge to Support REAL Teachers I understand that quality standards-based physical education is an important part of the solution to the nation’s obesity problem. For the sake of all children’s health I pledge to support REAL teachers by: Becoming educated about state and national standards for quality physical education. Doing all I can to demand that the physical educators on my staff are REAL teachers, teaching quality physical education. Putting REAL teachers in leadership positions and supporting them in every possible way. Never forgetting that the number one priority is to teach all the students, and while coaching after school sports is very important it should not lead to sacrifices in the physical education program. Not allowing substitutions for physical education, as this would indicate my lack of understanding of the crucial role REAL teachers can play in curbing the rise in childhood obesity. Parent’s Pledge to Support REAL Teachers I understand that quality standards-based physical education is an important part of the solution to the nation’s obesity problem. For the sake of my child’s health, I pledge to support REAL teachers by:
Learning about quality physical education and how it can help children become physically active for life. Helping solicit support from administrators for quality PE. Not putting up with baby-sitting in the name of physical education.

Student Pledge to Support REAL Teachers I pledge that as a student I will respect my teacher’s efforts to be a REAL guide on my journey to become a physically educated person. I recognize that learning is a shared responsibility and I will do my part by bringing my best attitude and effort to class. I will respectfully ask questions to enhance my learning and when I am not clear about the purpose of an activity or task, always trusting that my teacher’s intention is to help me develop the skills, knowledge and values I need to be physically active and fit for life.
