PROJECT 01 02 03 04 05

/ introduction /

Transformation is everywhere in graphic design. Concept transforms into visual language that can be seen and understood, and unclear and unsightly visual information transforms into compelling visual effects. Skillful handing of change and transformation is essential to good design. Transform is the theme of my portfolio. Design is a process of transformation, leading to a solution. The final effects of design are forms. As a designer, my works are constantly evolving, and I am also maturing in the process. I am honored all my instructors, all my friends, and everyone who helped me transform and develop to become who I am.

/ objective / This course investigates how research and audience understanding create successful interactive projects that can enhance a user’s experience with a brand. In this class, research and design strategies align a brand with a series of design communication solutions. Students develop and design multimedia deliverables that engage an audience.

/ approach / I built an app to help entrepreneurs find business partners who are a good match through a platform that builds connections and facilitates communication. Screening out information is easy through filters, and online chat technology makes it easy to connect.

/ ob j ec ti v e / Choose a film director and his selected works to design a comprehensive film festival experience. Discover the common thread that appears in each of the director’s films and conceptualize a visual system. Use different design skills to create a cohesive visual and design language throughout the experience.

/ a p p roa c h / The director that I chose was Luc Besson, who is a French director. I showcased his most powerful films with plenty of action, including Leon: The Professional (1994) and The Transporter (2002). The visual execution is based on how the director characterizes the marginal person and shows a sense of morality. I chose to use street lines as a basic element to interpret the core of Luc Besson’s films — and the visual style uses fast moving vague pictures to interpret the films’ tension and excitement.

/ ob j ec ti v e / The goal of this course is to visually and verbally understand identity and branding as it relates to a variety of will investigate what defines the personality, identity and substance of these businesses through the creation and execution of brand and identity programs.

/ a p p roa c h / The brand I chose is Hummer. From 2012 onwards Hummer gradually withdrew from the civilian SUV stage because it had been unable to keep up with the trend of the times. However, the Hummer brand soul still projects a tough feel, so Hummer needs a better brand identity to represent its current position and future goals. I extracted the military and tough elements from the brand spirit as the visual basis of the new Hummer to show its heroic spirit, people empowered to face the great challenges in their future.

/ ob j ec ti v e / This course brings the program learning outcomes into crisp focus as students are provided the context necessary to get the most out of their academic experience. For this project, students will create a brand related to a problem, develop a brand identity and deliverables.

/ a p p roa c h / The topic that I chose is no texting while driving. I am a driver, so I really care about traffic accidents. Driving is normal in modern society, but it is also more dangerous than in other times, and accidents are more frequent, so I wanted the project to be able to solve the problem.
