The accompanying CD, which has been recorded by the Apollo Chamber Orchestra, features Saint-Saens's music and the newly commissioned poems read by Cicely Herbert and Gerard Benson. Judith Chernaik, Gerard Benson and Cicely Herbert are practising poets and founders of the "Poems on the Underground" scheme which places poetry on London's tube network. The scheme has been adopted in many countries all over the world and has spawned hugely successful books. Satoshi Kitamura is a highly acclaimed illustrator from Tokyo, Japan. He won a Mother Goose Award for the most exciting newcomer to children's book illustration, for Angry Arthur. He now lives in London.
