Starting a Fire Firestarters and matches can get the flame started, but dry tinder (either chemical blocks, dry moss, cardboard or wood shavings) is important and once the fire is smouldering, gently blowing from underneath whilst adding larger dry sticks or twigs will help combustion. What is a Lumen? Luminous flux (lumen) is the most important term for characterising the performance of a torch. It refers to the amount of light or light energy that is actually radiated from a light source. It can be easily used to compare torches with the higher figure being brighter than a lower figure. However, a higher lumen torch will use more power, affecting battery life.
LED Technology LED technology offers excellent levels of brightness and will never need replacing like a traditional incandescent bulb. LEDs are also extremely energy efficient, meaning that battery life can be up to 4x that of a conventional torch.

How a Jellyfish Stings Jellyfish are simple organisms governed by key chemical reactions. Because of this simplicity, a suncream can be created which inhibits their stinging. How does it work? The tentacle sticks to your skin. A sensor notes that contact has been made. The jellyfish asks whether it is just touching itself. If the answer comes back “no�, a chemical message is sent from the sensor to the sting capsules to start firing. The stings are given speed by building up pressure inside the capsule. The jellyfish creates a solution inside the capsule with 50x more salt than is found in sea water. This creates pressure 100x greater than is found in a car tyre. When the sting is released, it accelerates faster than a bullet.
How our Anti-Jellyfish Formula Works An extract of plankton is added which binds to the jellyfish sting sensor and blocks it. Thus it does not send a message to fire the sting. A mineral salt containing calcium is added. If the jellyfish sting sensor does send the message to fire, this mineral salt muddles the message. The result is no sting. The sun cream contains a mixture of sugar and protein which is similar to the substance found in the jellyfish bell. When the jellyfish encounters this, it thinks it is touching itself and does not fire a sting. The sun cream is designed to be water resistant and is quite slippery. This makes it difficult for the jellyfish to make contact with the skin.

EX8 AntiMosquito Treatment Lifesystems EX8 AntiMosquito is an insecticidal treatment that has been formulated specifically for mosquito nets.
