Currently, Cordray is facing a court challenge from PHH Mortgage, which is appealing a massive fine he levied against the company for engaging in kickbacks. The matter is set to come before the US District Court in April, and industry experts say a loss for the CFPB could go a long way toward stripping Cordray’s powers.

Ianitti’s technical know-how hasn’t gone unnoticed: In 2014, DocMagic was one of only a few companies selected to participate in a CFPB pilot program for e-closings. And last year, the company partnered with PHH Mortgage for TRID compliance technology and announced an e-mortgage partnership with Mid America Mortgage and eSign Systems.
