KEY BEAUTY Beauty and the Stars
By Marbella Beauty Academy
Marbella Beauty Academy continues following Beauty & the Stars this month starting with: SCORPIO There is a peace in the depths of Scorpions that they should be fully aware of. This point of control and full dominance is what makes them magnetic to others, and all they need to learn is to understand that this isn’t negative, but a power they have. Scorpios can wear everything, including provocative clothes, leather, intense makeup and blood red lipstick. There seems to be a deeply seeded need in some Scorpios to wear black, but this might speak of their state of emotional denial and self-destruction. This month focus on your friendships as well as your significant other; get in tune with your body by trying a new activity like salsa dancing with your man or a burlesque class with the girls, release anger with high intensity workouts! MBA Beauty Tip Your best Beauty buy this month is a sexy bold lipstick. Try a fabulous shade of red, like Nars Lipstick or Revlon Colorburst. ittarian apart from the crowd. Their charm hides in the most embarrassing situations, for this is where they shine, fully aware that they are good just as imperfect as they are. This is a sign of colourful outfits and brave, modern combinations, and they can pull almost anything off as long as they are aware of their limitations and shortcomings. Every Sagittarius goes through a point in life where they aren’t sure if something is true to their nature, or supportive of their physical flaws. This can lead to fashion suicide as well as the wrong choice of makeup, perfumes, and a tension in their overall image. When they are truthful with themselves about their appearance, they suddenly know very well what goes with their body and hair type, or their facial shape. This month whether the commitment is business or romantic, you´ll need to take some pensive walks in order to consider if you will remain in an agreement....big changes are in the air and you will want to take the leap! MBA Beauty Tip - your best tip this month is a new hair cut or a brighter eye shadow for a dramatic change - try Dolce and Gabbana Duo in Sky or NYX Single in a bright light colour

KEY BEAUTY Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is a very effective skin treatment that creates a fresh, glowing and rejuvenated look. What can you expect? • Promotes a healthy and more youthful complexion • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles • Rejuvenates the skin for a glowing complexion • Decreases or eliminates mild to moderate acne scarring • Helps decrease hyperpigmentation or brown spots • Eliminates sun damage and dry skin How does it work? Microdermabrasion is non-invasive and the procedure only removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, younger cell beneath. Regardless of your skin’s condition, the fine lines and age spots may be erased and acne scars and stretch marks will become less obvious. It is like a superficial skin polishing... a safe and pain-free method of rejuvenating the skin. It is also gentle enough to suit almost any skin type. A common skin complaint for which microdermabrasion is most effective is acne scarring. Acne scars form in the dermis which lies directly below the surface layer, the epidermis. This area cushions the skin and, in acne sufferers, becomes inflamed as the body works overtime to repair the wound created from bursting or removing blackheads, pimples and scaly skin. When the body works so hard to heal itself an excess build up of collagen can occur. This collagen can stay in place creating a pit in the skin which can be removed or decreased thanks to microdermabrasion technology. Our diamond tip microdermabrasion treatments are performed with state of the art equipment by a fully qualified therapist and include the following... • Full facial cleansing • Full skin analysis • Complete microdermabrasion treatment • Full facial massage • Vitamin supplement • Soothing and hydrating masque The cost of a 75-minute treatment is 50.00 Euros or 140.00 Euros for 3 sessions. Also available in our beauty rooms are facials from Guinot,

KEY FEATURE Autumn Events - 5 Top Tips Here on the Costa del Sol celebrations for Christmas and New Year are rapidly approaching and for people in business it’s time to think about getting your business ready for what special service, offers you will make, or events you will be attending over the Autumn. On the Costa del Sol we have lots of Christmas events and fairs. However do you check if this particular event is the right one for your business? Do you evaluate what audience the event organisers are targeting? Is the event day, date, time and location convenient for people who are buy your products? What costs will you need to pay including the stand cost, your outgoings to attend (petrol, time etc.) and so you have the right sort of stock? All these things need to be taken into account before you try and get a space. Here are my 5 top planning tips once you have booked your slot! 1. Sharing Don’t rely 100% on the organiser to get the event publicised. You want your Clients and potential Customers to meet you there. Create an event on Facebook and/or your website and invite your fans and followers to come along. 2. Make an Offer Think about an offer you can make exclusively for the event. Prepare clear information about it to display on your stand and share in the event information beforehand. People have very short time to read so make it snappy!
8
KEY TO MIJAS COSTA
3. Attention! Are you going to have a “goodie” on your stand to help keep people there a little longer than normal? Try and come up with something unique that people will want to engage with and not just pass by. It could be a game, or a quiz with the winner being given a gift from your stall, or something they need to visit you to collect. (And when they come to collect, don’t forget the photo opportunity that can be converted into a press release!) 4. How do I look? What you wear and how you look are as important as what your stand looks like and how you dress it! Think of all targeting all the five senses – taste, smell, sound, sight and touch. Start by wrapping the table and put your items at different heights and layers. Make sure the pricing is big and clear (people don’t tend to ask prices). Add some unusual objects to hang or stand your items onto. If you have just flyers, think of another way to display them (magazine rack style perhaps?). And please, sitting down and looking bored never entices people to visit! 5. Follow up And when it’s all over… follow up, follow up, follow up! If you were able to take people’s contact details, drop them an email, thank them for coming and remind them about any special offers you may have over the coming weeks. Hope that helps and see you at the Costa del Sol events and fairs soon!

KEY HEALTH Pycnogenol - Nature’s Most Versatile Supplement
Provided by Pharmanord
Pycnogenol ® (a powerful extract sourced from sustainable maritime pine bark) has a range of health benefits linked to being both a potent antioxidant (which protects the cells from oxidative damage) and an anti-inflammatory (which reduces the body’s swelling responses). A potent source of plant compounds known as proanthrocyanadins, Pycnogenol has a range of unique properties and actions in the body shown in over 40 years of research. These include: Skin Support - Pycnogenol supplementation has demonstrated the ability to improve skin appearance, including the reduction of common signs of ageing such as wrinkles. Pycnogenol binds with skin proteins collagen and elastin to help rebuild skin elasticity and structure while stimulating production of hyaluronic acid (the compound responsible for skin hydration), with one study showing a boost of up to 44%! Pycnogenol also boosts micro-circulation to the skin, allowing improved delivery of oxygen and nutrients. Eye Health - lifestyle, diet and hereditary factors all impact our vision, with age causing vision to naturally decline over time. The retina specifically is exposed to the highest oxidative stress of any tissue in the body, as the eyes are exposed to UV rays from the sun which can damage tissue. This oxidative stress can be counteracted by strong antioxidants, such as Pycnogenol and numerous studies show that Pycnogenol helps preserve healthy eyesight. Pycnogenol also helps protect the delicate vessels that supply the eyes with oxygen and nutrients. Circulation Support - Pycnogenol has been shown to reduce major risk factors for cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. This benefit is mainly delivered though facilitating nitric oxide release, a naturally occurring substance that allows blood vessels to expand, circulation to improve and blood pressure to decrease. Pycnogenol has also demonstrated the impressive ability to reduce the oxidation of LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol, which would otherwise contribute to fatty plaque build up in the arteries. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) - Pycnogenol has shown to dramatically reduce both the occurrence and the symptoms of DVT in clinical trials, primarily due to its effective antiinflammatory action which help control the body’s swelling responses. DVT frequently occurs in long haul flights when leg movement is restricted. Symptoms include uncomfortable and painful swelling of the legs and development of blood clots but can also lead to a life threatening pulmonary embolism if a blood clot travels to the lungs. Tinnitus - Usually described as hearing persistent noises such as ringing, hissing and rushing, tinnitus has a range of potential causes, though is thought to be a due to poor circulation in the ears. Though it has no cure, the symp-
toms can be alleviated by Pycnogenol supplementation. After treatment with Pycnogenol in one study, the inner ear blood flow of subjects significantly improved. Using a measurement known as a subjective tinnitus scale (STS), subjects consuming Pycnogenol reported significant reduction in tinnitus symptoms compared to those who took placebo. Joint support - Through strong anti inflammatory properties, Pycnogenol can reduce joint swelling and pain associated with rheumatoid conditions such as arthritis. Pycnogenol reduces the activity of NF-kB, a protein complex found in the body known to be the main ‘switch’ for inflammation and swelling. Pycnogenol has also shown the ability to reduce inflammation experienced by osteoarthritis sufferers. Nature’s most versatile supplement - Pycnogenol has also shown to support blood glucose levels, improve athletic performance and alleviate symptoms of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. With so many strong clinical studies showing that Pycnogenol is effective at delivering such a wide range of benefits, it’s no wonder it’s enjoyed by people worldwide.

KEY HEALTH Do You Suffer From Text Neck? Humans were designed to stand upright. And yet in this modern world, too many of us spend our days with our heads slumped over for a simple reason - we’re staring at the tiny screen of a Smart phone. Did you know that people spend an average of 2 to 4 hours each day with their neck bent at this unnatural angle while sending or reading emails or texts. That’s approximately 700 to 1,400 hours a year. Teenagers, on the other hand, spend an average of 7.5 hours a day on social media alone! A recent study conducted by Dr. Kenneth Hansraj, head of spine surgery at the New York Spine Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine, states that the average adult head weighs 10 to 12 pounds when it’s in the upright or neutral position. However, because of gravitational pull - the cranium becomes heavier the more you bend your neck - several times heavier, in fact. For every inch you tilt your head forward, the pressure on the spine doubles! His research found that bending your head at a 60 degree angle is putting 60 pounds’ worth of pressure on your cervical spine, the part of the spine above the shoulders. That’s more than the weight of the average 7 year old. Even tilting the head forward a mere 15 degrees puts 27pounds of pressure on your spine. This strain may lead to early wear and tear, disc degeneration, pinched nerves and possibly surgery. Over time it can even flat-

ten or reverse the natural curve of the neck. Physios have even come up with a name for this: Text Neck or Coat- hanger Neck. It’s obvious that correct posture is better for your back. According to the researchers, “good posture is defined as ears aligned with the shoulders and the ‘angel wings,’ or the shoulder blades, retracted. Standing tall doesn’t just make you look better, it optimizes your health, too. Experts say that slouching can reduce lung capacity by as much as 30%. A lack of oxygenated blood flowing through the body can potentially lead to vascular disease. You may also increase the risk of headaches or even depression. Gastrointestinal problems can be caused by the pressure placed on the organs when one has bad posture. To counteract these problems associated with having Text Neck, we should be constantly aware of our posture when using our Smart phones/tablets and even laptops. Physios advise to take up Yoga or Pilates or to have regular massages. *Extracts taken from CBS Interactive Inc. KEY HEALTH What is Psychotherapy: Is it for me? There are many types of psychotherapy and today at least one in five people will seek this help at some point in their lives. Talking therapy is advocated more within the NHS than ever before; it is now recommended as part of the treatment for those suffering with anxiety and depression as well as addictions to various substances or damaging behaviours. There is a lot of confusion about the differences between psychotherapy, counselling, psycho-analysis and behavioural therapies. Normally, counselling is used to address less serious or profound issues. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may be used to help change deeplyentrenched behaviours which are causing distress to the client. Life Coaching is a form of counselling which some people seek to address a situation they are in, or the management of any goal they have, in order to find alternative ways of achieving it. This can mean changing their whole approach to any given situation which has been informed by their pattern of behaviour or thinking over the years. Psychotherapy is a more profound approach to an issue where the client wants to understand at a more core level, the reasons for their thinking, behaviour or emotional pain. They wish to get to know themselves in a way that leads to better understanding and self-acceptance. Psycho-analysis may have moved on since the days of Freud and Jung, but it is often quoted as being the “inactive approach” where the client assumes the role of patient rather than taking a more active part in the process of therapy. I am sure that today’s analysts would disagree, but in my experience many people found this approach pat-

ronising and judgemental. “Infinitely more important than the answers are the questions; the choice of them, the inner form of them.” Oswald Spengler. Therapy or Counselling should address the whole person, their situation in life and be empathic with a non-judgemental approach. It is not the role for anyone, however well-qualified, to sit in judgement on another. No-one can experience life for us and no-one should tell is how we feel about a situation. A therapist or counsellor should never impose their goals upon a client. They can help us re-construe our experiences in life but never negate the impact of them. Some people find therapy or counselling a threatening process and it is essential that the psychotherapist is skilled in their practice to limit the amount of unnecessary anxiety for the client. It is to be expected that a certain amount of anxiety will be present at any time of change whether this change is positive or negative. Resistance to change is a human response to the unknown and it is essential that anyone thinking about seeing a therapist or counsellor researches well to access one with correct qualifications and insurance in order to be safe in the process of self-discovery. This information can be found by visiting the web sites for the BACP or the UKCP. Eileen Murphy is a Preferred Partner of medilink and an experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor who is highly respected in her field of expertise. KEY HEALTH First Steps to Cooking Healthy I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Jon Stark and I have been eating vegan food for 5 years now. It all started when I tried to lose weight when I was in my teens as I was 50 kilos overweight and to say the least, my diet was awful! I only ate junk food accompanied by soft drinks, sweets and all kind of meat and dairy products too. I ate no kind of fruit or vegetables and drank hardly any water which is most important to keep you hydrated and enable you to flush the toxins out of your body. Due to my poor diet I had a very sensitive, allergic reaction to any type of grass, flowers or dog, cat, rabbit or horse’s hair. My immune system became weak due to the amount of times I contracted the flu, which could last up to 3 weeks. When I started to do some exercise and remove a few bad food choices from my diet replacing these with fresh fruit and vegetables, I started to feel better, had more energy and could do more exercise. As I kept changing more things in my diet like less soft

drinks and adding more water, I started to lose weight at a better rate than I was hoping for and it motivated me to keep changing so I started to go to vegan cooking courses and got hooked on eating healthy food instead of the junk food I used to eat. I would now like to inspire other people to learn how to put the many super foods to good use. It would be an absolute pleasure for me to share my personal experience with anyone that is interested in eating healthy food and would like to learn how to add it to their daily diet simply, still eat delicious food with no meat or dairy products, but using all organic products and better still, benefit your health. If you would like more information, please get in touch – our contact details are in the advert below (or you can email me - jonstark22@icloud.com for advice or to secure your place on our easy first steps cooking course - you will love the food that you will have created yourself! KEY HEALTH CBD Oil – The “New” Magic Liquid! There are two types of cannabis – HEMP & MARIJUANA. Hemp is used for many things in our everyday lives such as paper, rope, clothes etc and is 100% legal. Marijuana is used as a drug and in some controlled places, as a medicine. CBD Oil is made from HEMP plant – using only the flowers and the leaves. You can find hemp oil on the market which is made from the seeds: however it does not have all the same healing effect as the flowers and leaves. CBD oil products have already been available on the mainstream market for several years now. These include nutritional supplements like daily capsules and drops, gums and high concentration extracts. Additionally, CBD is being used to enhance many skin and beauty products, including everything from shampoos to skin creams. Scientific and clinical research proves that CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, inflammation, diabetes, alcoholism, cancer, MS, chronic pain, PTSD, depression, antibiotic resistant infections, epilepsy and other neurological disorders elsewhere. In a jungle of CBD oils on the market, the following guidelines are recommended: • Don’t go for price, choose quality • Make sure it’s made from the actual plant and not crystals or isolate • Must be Full Spectrum CBD Oil • Higher % CBD just means less drops per day. There have never been recorded an overdose on CBD oil in history. Up to 1500mg daily dosage is well tolerated. Many pets have benefitted from CBD oil in regards to allergies, anxiety, arthritis, cancer, chronic pain, fatty tumours, glaucoma, homeostasis, inflammatory bowel disease, inflammation, joint and mobility issues, seizures and skin problems.

KEY HOLISTIC Research Links Sleep Loss to Obesity Some people struggle to get a decent night’s sleep. It can feel as if the sandman forgot all about us. We all know that a good night’s sleep is one of the keys to good health, but conversely, recent research suggests that getting too little sleep can lead to a growing health concern: weight gain and obesity. Given the current tendency of many populations worldwide to not get enough sleep because of such factors as work, stress, and distractions related to TV, the internet, cell phones, video games and other outlets, studies indicate, our rate of sleep loss is increasing. A review of research by Harvard University’s School of Public Health sheds light on how sleep deprivation might lead to chronic weight gain and obesity – two health problems which have doubled worldwide among adults since 1980, and are now a growing problem among children. Chronic sleep deprivation is shown to increase how much food they eat, or decrease the energy that they burn. The review by Harvard reports that sleep loss may: Increase hunger: Sleeplessness can alter the hormones that control hunger. One small study, for example, found that young men who were deprived of sleep had higher levels of the appetite-stimulating hormone ghrelin and lower levels of the satiety-inducing hormone leptin, with a corresponding increase in hunger and appetite - especially for foods rich in fat and carbohydrates. Prompt people to eat more frequently: People who sleep less each night may eat more than people who get a full night’s sleep simply

KEY MUSIC New Release from Insatiable Gravy Transmission is a fusion of hardware synths and brilliant software apps. Using different controller keyboards, playing them sequenced and also live. The inspiration for the start of the song came from two iPad apps, the first Arpeggionome by the brilliant Alexandernaut. It is truly an amazing, expressive app that provides scintillating arpeggios in various time divisions which are synced perfectly in Ableton live. The second software app I used was SoundPrism Electro by Audanika. It gave the track the deep bass, which I played live through a filter. I went arpeggio crazy using Propellerhead’s Reason rack extensions and a few in Ableton live. Most of the drum samples came from Groove agent 4s Past and future house kit. The controllers I used were Akai MPK2 49, Arturia beatstep pro and Novation circuit.

KEY SPORTS Football Round-Up

England resumed their World Cup qualification with a match away in Malta on 1 September. Despite strong claims for Jack Butland to come in, Joe Hart hung on to the number 1 spot and his 72nd cap.
Seconds later, Kane smacked home the fourth off Rashford’s through ball. The following evening in a much more high-tempo game Spain defeated Italy 4-0 in the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
‘Doesn’t make for the most thrilling spectacle I am well aware of that,’ quipped the commentator. You’re not kidding.
Spain number 22, Isco, had a superb match scoring 2 of the goals and running, creating spaces and setting up plenty of attacks.
‘They look knackered already, they’ve only been playing 28 minutes. Perhaps it is the heat or the Maltese turf doesn’t agree with them,’ remarked an observer. ‘4 out of 10 for the first half. On 52 minutes Dele Alli jinxed on the edge of the box found Kane who with 2 touches controlled and fired into the back of the net. Danny Welbeck came on after 76 minutes, his first cap for 18 months and his 35th in total while coffee shop owner Finech came on for Malta in the closing stages replacing another Finech (although no relation.) Ryan Bertrand hit a low 35 yarder which went underneath the keeper. Barnsley’s Michael Mifsud, 36, came on for Malta for his 125th cap. Welbeck beat the keeper to a chip forward and volleyed over him for his 15th international goal and England’s third.

Eric Dier cleverly flicked in a cross to equalise, then Marcus Rashford scored from 23 yards to give England the lead. Joe Hart who perhaps might have done better with the Slovakia goal redeemed in the second half with a decent save off a far post volley. Dele Alli had a poor match, was largely ineffective, although his little lay-off led to the second goal and was substituted in the closing stages.

Secluded – Do It Right. Slammin’ 4 tracker, one of the strongest of the year. Functional (original mix) is a Dave Clarke Red style track. Rolando’s mix of Do It Right has an old school Detroit feel to it but it is the Xpansul remix which comes out on top with its atmospheric hook-line. Jose Rico – Intro. Chill-out Café Del Mar style track.

KEY PETS What is Compassionate Grooming? Quite a few people ask me what compassionate grooming is. In this issue I will explain what compassionate grooming means and why after 26 years in the trade Ii feel able to push forward and try to spread the word that your dog’s grooming experience is important and can greatly affect their emotional health not just during the grooming but long term, causing emotional and behavioural problems in the family home. For example, just one bad experience having a toenail trim can lead to the dog disliking their paws being touched or held, with aggression in this area. When the toenails are trimmed, every care should be taken to ensure the quick isn’t cut. Many people do not know that apart from the bleeding, the nail will be painful and tender for days, much like if we break our own nails past the skin, we all know just how sore and tender your finger can be afterwards. It’s the same for dogs - times that by 2 or 3 or all the toenails and you will have a dog that will be very fearful next time they come to have their toenails trimmed. With dogs that already suffer already with toenail phobia, it can be overcome in only a small % of dogs - in my experience only 30% but believe me, it’s worth trying. Another example is bathing/showering your dog. In my experience, dogs do not like being bathed in cold water and while at the groomers, warm water should always be used, changing the temperature from room temperature to warm, depending on the weather. For dogs suffering with aches and pains due to arthritis or old age, very warm water helps to sooth them much the same as it would us. Here I will try to explain the concept of compassionate grooming: Compassionate grooming is being compassionate to all areas of the grooming experience for the dog. Being compassionate towards anything that may cause discomfort to the dog like pulling at knots or plucking the hair from the ears, cleaning infected ears or dealing with sore skin or dogs that suffer with arthritis and doing your utmost to be gentle and to express your compassion for causing the discomfort. Doing anything you can to reduce any discomfort. Compassionate to the dog’s feelings and how they view what you are doing. Compassionate in how you handle a dog and in trying to bond with the dog through lots of kind words, cuddles and kisses compassionate with your time in ensuring that the dog has moments

in between sections of grooming to express themselves, for example allowing a dog to shake during and after a bath or simply giving them a small break. Be compassionate towards their mistakes and forgive them. Compassionate means simply try to understand how the dog feels and why they react in certain ways. So, you ask, where do I find a compassionate groomer? Ask questions. Look for a personal service rather than a company where dogs are coming and going, meaning high stress levels in the work place for both the dogs and the workers. Choose your groomer, rather than dropping your dog off where there are 1, 2 or 3 different groomers or where groomers change from month to month. Ask that your dog be groomed right away and that you would like to pick them up as soon as they are finished. If that is not possible then ask to see the grooming area and where your dog will stay while they wait to be picked up. Support your groomer not only in their advice, but in areas they cannot do due to your dog’s fears, for example do not ask your groomer: “Muzzle”, Hold my dog down,” Just do it anyway”. If you know your dog has aggression when having things done. Part of a groomer’s job is to trim, brush and wash your dog’s paws and pads. If we hold your dog down, tie them up, muzzle them, then we break trust and without trust there is no bonding meaning your dog will be under a lot of stress each time they come to the groomers. For some of you this article with my beliefs may seem over the top but I have spent my life working with dogs including many extreme cases where no other groomer has been able to groom their dog and believe me nothing beats working with dogs like this using compassionate grooming. Seeing a dog slowly accept you, trust you, then turn to you and show you love and affection is worth all the hard work and a good groomer is one of the best investments you can make with your dog as we ensure they stay in top condition and health, spotting health problems like ear infections, dietary problems, ingrown toenails, fungal infections, fleas, ticks, lumps, growths and much more...If you would like to talk to me, please email me, call me or send me a message through my Facebook page. KEY COMPUTERS 5 Reasons why you should be buying Refurbished Equipment
When buying computer hardware for yourself or your company it might be a good idea to consider buying refurbished or reconditioned equipment. Here are five reasons why you should. 1. Savings There’s no denying that the most compelling reason to buy refurbished equipment rather than new products is the fact that in almost every case you can save money. How much money depends on the product, the seller and situation but you can almost always save a minimum of 10 to 20 per cent or more. You can buy a refurbished laptop with a more powerful processor, larger hard drive and more memory for the same price as a basic new laptop. 2. Save on software licenses Let’s say you have an older machine running Windows XP and you finally decided to upgrade your OS, you could go out and buy a license for a new OS or you could buy a refurbished computer that already has a newer operating system installed for you – and you get a new computer to run it on. 3. Reliability There’s an old tech saying ‘never buy the first release of anything.’ The reason is simple; the manufacturer hasn’t had time to test the product in the real world yet and identify any problems. Second and third versions are almost always more stable. Refurbished equipment has been tested in the field and the bugs have already been found and corrected. 4. Sustainability Buying refurbished or reconditioned equipment means doing your small part to reduce the ever-increasing volumes of e-waste being generated every year. Every refurbished laptop, printer, scanner, server or desktop computer you buy is one less piece of equipment going to the toxic waste dump. 5. Reduce loss If you’re buying a computer for a child or if your equipment is going to be subject to stressful situations on a regular basis then it makes sense to buy less expensive refurbished equipment. It won’t sting quite as much when it gets dropped,
By Computer City rained on or has peanut butter smeared in the USB ports. There are many reasons to considering buying refurbished equipment rather than brand new, more expensive equipment. Computer City stock a large selection of refurbished equipment that has been fully tested and comes with a warranty. For more information contact Marcus on 616 160 474.

KEY LAW European Court of Human Rights limits Employers’ Right to monitor Employee Emails A decision by the European Court of Human Rights of 5 September states that monitoring of an employee’s electronic communications amounted to a breach of his right to private life and correspondence (Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights). The judgement in the case of Barbulescu v. Romania (application no. 61496/08) concludes that the national authorities had not adequately protected Bogdan Mihai Barbulescu’s right to respect for his private life and correspondence. In particular, the national courts had failed to determine whether Barbulescu had received prior notice from his employer of the possibility that his communications might be monitored. His communications consisted of messages he had exchanged with his brother and his fiancée relating to personal matters, some of the messages being of an intimate nature. The company terminated Barbulescu’s employment contract for breach of the company’s internal regulations that prohibited the use of company resources for personal purposes. The court noted that although it was questionable whether Barbulescu could have had a reasonable expectation of privacy in view of his employer’s restrictive regulations on Internet use, of which he had been informed, an employer’s instructions could not reduce private social life in the workplace to zero. The right to respect for private life and for the privacy of correspondence continued to exist, even if these might be restricted in so far as necessary.

First Enforcement Actions against Non-compliant Privacy Shield Participants The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced on 8 September that three US companies have agreed to settle FTC charges on misleading consumers about participation in the EU-US Privacy Shield. The companies in question, human resources software company Dec soft, LLC; printing services company Tru Communication Inc. (doing business as TCPrinting.net); and Md7, LLC, which manages real estate leases for wireless companies, had violated the FTC Act by falsely claiming that they were certified to participate in the EU-US Privacy Shield. In fact, all three companies failed to complete the certification process for the Privacy Shield. “Today’s actions highlight the FTC’s commitment to aggressively enforce the Privacy Shield frameworks, which are impor tant tools in enabling transatlantic commerce,” said Acting FTC Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen. “Companies that want to benefit from these agreements must keep their promises or we will hold them accountable.”
This decision, taken by the Grand Chamber which consists of 17 judges, is final (Article 44 of the Convention).
As part of their settlements with the FTC, the three companies are prohibited from misrepresenting the extent to which they participate in any privacy or data security programme sponsored by the government or any self-regulatory or standard-setting organization, and must comply with FTC reporting requirements.
However, the Court says in a separate Q&A document that companies can still in some circumstances monitor employees if they suspect that they are using the Internet at work for private purposes. The Court considers that States should ensure that, when an employer takes measures to monitor employees’ communications, these measures are accompanied by adequate and sufficient safeguards against abuse. http://echr.coe.int/Pages/home.aspx?p=home
The US Department of Commerce maintains the list of companies that have joined the framework, while the FTC enforces the promises companies make when joining the Privacy Shield. The EU Data Protection Authorities are due to issue this autumn their assessment of how the agreement is working in practice. One of questions that have been raised during the previous Safe Harbor arrangement is enforcement.

Lemongrass Now established in the Doña Lola complex, Calahonda. Fresh produce and authentic cuisine with Thai chef. Open every evening* from 6 – 11.30pm. Booking recommended. Takeaway service available. We have eaten at
Lemongrass many times and in my opinion, Lemongrass is the best Thai restaurant on the coast with a native Thai chef in its kitchen. Unusually the menu included Som Tam (Shredded Green Papaya Salad) for starters - exactly as I remember it – perfect taste with the small peanuts as well and it packed a punch with the chilli! Other starters include a selection of favourite Thai soups, Special Thai Chicken Salad, Glass Noodle Salad etc as well as Chicken Satay, Thai Spring Rolls, Thai Fish Cakes or better still, the Mixed Starter for 2. Main courses are made from Chicken, Beef or Lamb, Duck, Prawns or Fish. Personal recommendations include Chicken Green Curry, Crispy Roasted Duck with Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce & Basil Leaves, Stir-fried Prawns with Spring Onion & Ginger and Sweet & Sour Prawns (Thai style has a completely different flavour). There is a good selection of different rice and I particular enjoy the Fried Rice with Eggs. Lemongrass also serves a very good Pad Thai Noodle dish. Thai food can be VERY spicy, so best to ask for a little bit of spice the first time to see how you go! The Mango with Sticky Rice for Dessert is also delicious. The venue has a closed, glass curtain, outdoor terrace and limited seating indoors (which is air conditioned) so booking is recommended as Lemongrass is already very popular. Please check that delivery is available and also if the restaurant is closed on any nights during the cooler months.

We also manufacture UPVC and Aluminium windows and doors. The Glass Curtain system that we manufacture is a German system called Sunflex, it is typical of German design, much time and thought has gone into the system making it one of, if not the best, system available on the market today. The system is completely different to other systems that are of similar money, it is top hung which means that the weight of the glass is distributed evenly and not all sitting on the bottom rubbing metal against metal, this system runs on stainless steel wheels and stainless steel thrust needle bearings, each panel of glass has four holes drilled into it so that the profile can be bolted to the glass as well as glued, this is the only system to do this, all other systems are merely glued to the profile. Other companies will claim that a bottom hung system is better however as glass manufacturers who make our own glass and understand the weight that is involved per square meter for 10mm glass, we know that the best way for a system to function correctly is to hang the glass so as not to impose such weight and strain onto the system below causing scraping and juddering over a period of time and regular use. Our system has undergone many tests including an opening and closing test of over 10,000 cycles and also a wind test of up to 2000 Pascal’s, all the test documentation can be viewed at our offices. For any info please email us on rdmcsglass@ hotmail.com or check out our website on www.rdmcsglass.com or see our facebook-Instagram page for regularly updated installations, call us on 952 477 963/677 712 742 or see the advert on pages 38-39.
