BLUE REIGN

Live theater is a tough business, and finding a long-running hit is no sure thing – even less so when your show is built around a trio of bald blue characters who don’t speak for the entirety of the evening, but instead play drums, dance around and interact with the crowd in various forms of lighthearted mischief. So it may come as something of a surprise that not only did Blue Man Group find an enthusiastic audience for its one-of-a-kind shenanigans when it opened here in Chicago back in 1997, but twenty years later the party is still going strong. While the show has undergone a number of changes over that time, incorporating new routines and technology in order to remain fresh, the basic concept remains the same – three curious blue men hosting a party where everyone in the crowd has as much fun as they do! Blue Man Group performs at the Briar Street Theatre, 3133 N. Halsted. Call 773.348.4000 for tickets ($49-$99) and show times.
