TRINITY IRISH DANCE The famed dance company takes over the historic Auditorium Theatre for two exciting performances Feb. 29 Since 1990, the Trinity Irish Dance Company has brought the art of Irish dance to Chicago and the world, showcasing a uniquely Irish-American legacy that, while rooted in tradition, is also forward-thinking in its approach. Considered trailblazers in the field, Trinity puts on an incredible 400 shows a year, celebrating life through the power of dance. The company returns to the Auditorium Theatre’s historic stage on Saturday, Feb. 29, with three world premieres to go along with other critically acclaimed classics.
Known for its innovation, artistry and technical range, Trinity “stretches the limits of what Irish dance can do aesthetically and rhythmically,” according to the Chicago Tribune. The world premieres will feature traditional Irish dance with contemporary styles, a hybrid of Irish step and American tap, and a deconstruction of Irish dance that pays homage to the deep traditions of the art form. Trinity’s two performances on Feb. 29 are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at just $35. 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr. 312-341-2310. AuditoriumTheatre.org
