LET’S ROCK!
When most theatergoers think of Andrew Lloyd Webber, their thoughts tend toward the landmark Broadway achievements of Cats, Sunset Boulevard and, of course, The Phantom of the Opera. They’re less likely to envision a stage full of rambunctious elementary students with electric guitars and pounding drums rocking out at the behest of their manic, music-loving teacher. But that famous name is indeed atop the marquee for School of Rock, a film-to-stage adaptation of the good-spirited Jack Black movie that became one of Broadway’s biggest and most pleasant musical surprises of the past several seasons. Now those rocking kids are invading the Windy City, adding yet another unexpected entry to the incomparable resume of a Broadway titan. School of Rock continues this week at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph. Tickets ($24-$87) are available at 312.977.1700.
