Five-time Grammy award-winning and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Buddy Guy settles in for a monthlong stand at his South Loop club Buddy Guy’s Legends every January to give music lovers something to keep things cooking. This will be the final chance for fans to catch the legend at the club’s original incarnation, which turned 20 years old in June of this year. The new location, located up the block at 700 S. Wabash, is set to open in 2010. Mr. Guy will continue to play his residency at the new location in January 2011. “I’m working had to keep the blues in Chicago, in the South Loop,” Guy explains. “I’m doing everything I can to keep the blues alive.” Buddy Guy will be hitting the Legends stage 16 times this month. The chance to hear this bona fide living legend digging into authentic Chicago blues in an intimate 400-person venue is enough to get even the most winter-weary listener energized, which is why Guy’s annual residency has become a popular and beloved music tradition.

Many of the great lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetarian selections that patrons see on the lunch buffet at India House are prepared in the clay tandoor oven within the glass-enclosed kitchen area at the restaurant’s center, providing some great theater between courses. In addition, the drink menu features a wide array of Indian beers and international wines to help put out the fires of the spiciest offerings. India House is located at 59 W. Grand Avenue. The lunch buffet runs from 11am to 2:30pm for $12.95 Monday through Thursday, and 11:30am to 3pm Friday through Sunday. As the New Year takes its first baby steps, many consumers are rightly seeking out bargains and deals to help ease the financial hangover left in the wake of December. For some, that means tightening belts and forgoing perceived luxuries like eating out, but for others it just means searching a little harder to find a great meal at a great price. And budget-conscious foodies love nothing more than a good buffet – a steaming, multiple-choice testament to filling one’s stomach without emptying one’s wallet. Those diners, in particular, will likely find their way to the River North neighborhood to take advantage of the exceptional lunch buffet at the India House restaurant. Because a good Indian menu tends to be wide-ranging to the point of daunting (India House features over 150 choices), the buffet set-up is a natural, giving veterans and newcomers alike a chance to sample a variety of regional favorites for one low price.
bye, bye baby...
The record-breaking hit JERSEY BOYS says “Bye, Bye Baby” to the Windy City on January 10, 2010. What started as a limited engagement back in October of 2007 turned into an incredible twoyear residency at the Bank of America Theatre, drawing in over a million fans. “We came to Chicago for a visit, and the Windy City became our home away from home for what will be over two years. Such conversions happen rarely in the theater and we are proud to have made Chicago home for as long as we have,” said Michael David, Producer of JERSEY BOYS. “It is breathtaking. Our profound thanks to the citizens of Chicago who have made us such welcome neighbors.” JERSEY BOYS tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This is the story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide all before they were thirty. The Bank of America Theatre is located at 18 W. Monroe. Performance schedule is as follows: Fri at 8pm, Sat at 2pm & 8pm, Sun at 2pm. Tickets range from $30-$110 and can be purchased at all Broadway in Chicago Box Offices, by calling 800/775-2000 and online at www.BroadwayInChicago.com. Those looking for some pre– or post– theater nosh, will not find a more convenient or more thrilling option than the legendary Italian Village (71 W. Monroe; 312/332-7005) restaurants, where the cast members have been known to break bread on a somewhat regular basis. “The JERSEY BOYS cast has been very supportive of the Italian Village, dining here many nights after the performances,” said Pamella Capitanini, Marketing Coordinator for Italian Village. “They often have joined our Wednesday night band by singing and playing for the crowd. They never have refused to give an autograph or talk to a patron and really have been wonderful visitors to Chicago. We will miss them.” Bring your ticket from that day’s show and receive a complimentary dessert, courtesy of Italian Village.
