31 FRIDAY

ON THE COVER YEAR OF THE HORSE! If you missed out on ringing in the New Year, leave it to the Second City to give you a second chance to celebrate. Hosted by the Chinatown Special Events Committee, the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade kicks off on February 2nd at 1pm at Wentworth and Cermak. The celebration welcomes in the year of the Horse and the Chinese year 4712. Visitors will enjoy marching bands, colorful floats, dragon and lion teams along with hundreds of thousands of firecrackers! Before or after the parade visitors are invited to stroll through the historic Chinatown neighborhood and take in the sights, culture and various attractions. Of course a trip to Chinatown is not complete without an authentic Chinese dining experience. And, when it comes to dining in Chinatown, one name rises to the top – Tony Hu. Tony’s empire began in 1998 with Lao Sze Chuan (2172 S. Archer, 312.326.5040) and has expanded to include several other award-winning establishments. For more information, contact the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce at 312.326.5320 or go to Chinatown.org.
