Millennium Park
Presented by
from beautiful landscapes to monumental architecture to iconic sculpture, Millennium Park is truly a 21st century creation. The concert season may be a distant memory, but Chicago’s favorite outdoor ice rink, the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink takes center stage all season long, so sharpen those skates and come out for a twirl. Jay Pritzker Pavilion: architect frank gehry’s bold outdoor band shell, with its soaring steel ribbons and state-of-the-art canopied sound system over the lawn, is a marquee performance venue. Crown Fountain: These towering waterfall bookends bearing digital images of Chicagoans have proven to be a popular barefoot playground for splashing children. Cloud Gate: The brilliant stainless steel curves of what has affectionately become known as “the Bean” mirrors both the skyline above and curious onlookers below. Lurie Gardens: a paradise for green-loving urbanites, this collection of flora brings to life Chicago’s motto “urbs in horto” (City in a garden). BP Bridge: Take the long way across Columbus Drive to Daley Bicentennial Plaza via frank gehry’s whimsically serpentine steel creation.

It’s chocolate lovers month, nuff said!
‘Tis the season for chocolate indulgences! although this churrascaria may be best known for their perfectly seasoned cuts, TEXAS DE BRAZIL’s (51 e. ohio; 312/670-1006) decadent three layer Chocolate mousse Cake, made with layers of light and dark mouse and topped with ganache, is their true secret weapon. Celebrating two decades of perfectly executed southern Italian cuisine, VIVO’s (838 W. randolph; 312/733-3379) devilishly divine meringata, made with pistachio nuts and raspberries wrapped in house-made meringue and topped with warm dark chocolate sauce, is the perfect next stop on any chocolate crawl. for an entirely different take on chocolate sauce, head to SU CASA (49 e. ontario; 312/943-4041), where mole sauce reigns king, and has been lovingly prepared with guajillo, ancho, and pasilla peppers, and of course chocolate, since 1963.

Editor’s Choice still undecided about what to do in Chicago? here are a few of our favorites:
Game Plan
by Mark Loehrke
you don’t have to be a football fan to appreciate the appeal of Super Bowl Sunday as an unofficial national holiday. after all, months removed from the celebratory block of Christmas and New year’s – not to mention any reasonable hope for warmer, more inviting weather – even the staunchest sports holdout has to have a little bit of love for any excuse to gather together and throw a party. of course, here in Chicago the unappealing aftertaste of a what-could-havebeen season for our beloved Bears may cast a slight pall on the day’s festivities, but if we can’t cheer on the home team just down the road in Indianapolis this sunday, at least there are still plenty of great places to catch the big game (and a big meal) while dreaming of next year. from football-focused outposts like Mike Ditka’s Restaurant (100 e. Chestnut; 312/5878989) and Shula’s Steak House (301 e. North Water; 312/670-0788) to Chicago sports-themed originals like Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse (33 W. Kinzie; 312/828-0966) and Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse (505 N. michigan; 312/321-8823), there will certainly be no shortage of big screens and aged prime steaks to be had when kickoff rolls around. 54
