Brash, colorful, and playful, Pop Art is widely regarded as the most significant artistic movement since 1945. Pop Art Design at The Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E. Chicago, 312.280.2660) pairs iconic design objects with artworks to show the crosspollination between these creative worlds. In Pop Art Design, works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, and Mel Ramos are shown alongside design objects by Charles Eames, George Nelson, Achille Castiglioni and Verner Panton to show how design was an equal dialogue partner for Pop Art. The Field Museum’s (1400 S. Lake Shore, 312.922.9410) new exhibition Looking at Ourselves: Rethinking the Sculptures of Malvina Hoffman, is a rich inquiry into the concept of race, which has changed drastically over the past eighty years but is still very much with us today. Hoffman’s artworks embody the complicated ways we look at culture and race, but they are also detailed and nuanced portraits of individual persons.

EVERY CUISINE, EVERY BUDGET, EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD CHICAGO’S RESTAURANT SCENE HAS YOU COVERED. FROM FINE DINING TO CLASSIC COMFORT FOOD, YOUR VISIT TO CHICAGO’S RIVERWALK IS SURE TO BE IN GOOD TASTE. It might be February, but nothing beats the great taste of barbecue... especially if they’re cranking out the amazing meats you’ll find at Dinosaur BBQ (923 W. Weed; 312.462.1053).

Catch 35
Chicago loves to eat... And, many of the city’s best chefs pride themselves not only on their great dishes, but their generous portions as well. For an old-school delicatessen meal, stop by ELEVEN CITY DINER (1112 S. Wabash, 312.212.1112 and 2301 N. Clark, 773.244.1112), where presentation meets size and comfort.
For almost 90 years, scores of downtown theatergoers and food lovers have descended on the legendary Italian Village (71 W. Monroe, 312.332.7005) to enjoy three unique Italian dining experiences under one roof, all of which continue to be accompanied by impeccable service and abetted by an impressive 35,000bottle wine list.
“Fresh” is the order of the day at Catch 35 (35 W. Wacker, 312.346.3500), where the dozens of daily seafood choices (like the Georges Bank scallops pictured above) are always fresh from the water, the preparations reflect fresh tastes and fresh thinking, and the cool, jazzy vibe of the room provides a wholly fresh and exciting dining experience.

AMERICAN
Margaritaville
Operating under the notion that it’s always five o’clock somewhere, the laid-back happy hour vibe is always in effect at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (700 E. Grand; 312.496.3840). Head to the water – albeit Lake Michigan – and waste away with a beer and a cheeseburger in paradise. Be sure to get $5 off with the coupon on page 37!
The folks at Labriola definitely know their baked goods, which is why it shouldn’t be surprising to know that they were instrumental in bringing legendary West Coast chain Stan’s Donuts (259 E. Erie, 312.255.1130) to the Windy City. Stop in for a yummy glazed or apple fritter and an eye-opening cup of coffee to get your day started right. No visit to Chicago would be complete without a taste of the city’s legendary deep-dish pizza, and few places in town serve it up better than Gino’s East (500 N. LaSalle; 312.988.4200). But there’s more than just piping-hot pie available at this massive River North complex – you’ll also find plenty of fresh craft beer from Gino’s Brewing Company, as well as live standup acts at the in-house Comedy Bar. keymagazinechicago.com

Whenever a new musical hits town with (a) a boatload of Tony and Grammy awards, (b) a program full of beloved songs and (c) a popular local performer in the lead role, you just have a feeling it’s going to be a long, beautiful run. Such is the case with Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph, 312.977.1700).
The Second City opened its doors on a cold December night in 1959 and its Mainstage quickly became a hotbed for cutting edge satire and comedy. UP Comedy Club continues The Second City's 55-year tradition of providing world-wide audiences with Chicago's best comedy including stand-up, sketch, improv, podcasts and more!
Chicago is known as the “Second City,” but the Lyric Opera (20 N. Wacker, 312.827.5600) is second to none. Whether in the mood for the lust, politics, and religion in the Lyric’s production of Nabucco or a charming and poignant romantic comedy like Der Rosenkavalier the Lyric is simply breathtaking.
