Welcome to Chicago and the 149th Midwinter Meeting of the Chicago Dental Society, an international leader in scientific dental meetings. This meeting’s intent is to provide every member of the dental team an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the art, science and practice of dentistry with the goal of improving the oral health of the public. Drs. James Frett, General Chairman, Robert Manasse, Program Chairman, and Al Kleszynski, Director of Scientific Programs, prepared a scientific program that should appeal to every dental team member. There are more than 130 speakers, with more than 225 courses, which include 35 participation courses. True to the CDS tradition, more than 50 percent of the courses are complimentary. I hope every attendee will visit the exhibition floor. On the exhibit floor you will be able to see, and when possible, sample the latest products and innovations to improve your dental practice. Another exciting feature of this meeting is the live television demonstration of clinical procedures. My wife, Kathy, and I and the entire CDS family hope that you will enjoy Chicago, and experience a productive and enjoyable time at the Midwinter Meeting.

ON THE COVER A ROCKIN’ NIGHT If you’re convinced that theater is not for you, this show is sure to prove you wrong. Not a traditional choreographed and orchestrated musical by any means, Million Dollar Quartet breaks the show tune mold and crosses over from chorus numbers to classic rock hits. Based on true events in 1956 at the Sun Records studio in Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet showcases the once-in-a-lifetime assembly of rock legends Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. The foursome was brought together by Sam Phillips, who discovered them and all their unique talents. This impromptu jam session went down in history as one of the greatest moments in music. Million Dollar Quartet is full of gut-busting rock numbers guaranteed to make you leap to your feet again and again. The show opened in Chicago in 2008 and has been running here at Lincoln Park’s Apollo Theater (2540 N. Lincoln) ever since. Ticket range from $25-$85.
