“A Midwinter Night’s Dream,” the theme of this year’s meeting, is truly the culmination of a life long dream for myself. Drs. Tom Remijas, general chair, John Kozal program chair, and Al Kleszynski, CDS Director of Scientific Programs, have done a marvelous job of bringing to fruition the “Dream” which I have held for this meeting long before I ever held a dental handpiece. For 2013, we have complied 118 of the finest speakers and our Exhibit Hall is playing host to more than 600 exhibitors displaying their latest innovations in 460,000 sq. ft of space. It is a sight to behold. And the Society appreciates all of our exhibitors and their support of dentistry. I along with the staff and members of the Chicago Dental Society are very glad you are at the 148th Midwinter Meeting and hope your Midwinter Meeting experience is truly, “such stuff as dreams are made on.”

ON THE COVER MILLION DOLLAR PLUS SHOW In December 1956, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins collaborated for a jam session at Sun Records studio in Memphis before their careers fully ignited. Sam Phillips, deemed “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” brought the four artists together for a recording session, the only one that they would ever do together. The cast and crew work together to tell the story of that legendary night with flashbacks of how Sam Phillips inspired each musician individually. Musical numbers include “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” and “Hound Dog,” where each talented cast-member plays his own instrument. The Tony-nominated musical has played in Chicago for four years. Although the original cast is on a national tour, you can still experience the excitement at Apollo Theater, 2540 N.
