The Board of Directors and the professional staff of the International Housewares Association welcome you to the 115th convening of our industry at the International Home + Housewares Show at McCormick Place. For 73 years, IHA has been sponsoring this major event in Chicago, which is the premier home products show in the world. Each year we recruit innovative suppliers from around the world, adding more than 400 new companies at the 2012 Show. Along with viewing the thousands of products on display, we invite you to Discover Design, featuring more than 100 suppliers showcasing new products on the leading edge of the design spectrum. The Discover Design Gallery gives buyers a museum-like peek at the exhibitors’ offerings. Another highlight of the Show is the educational sessions. For 2012, sessions include keynote speaker Barbara Turf, president/CEO of Crate and Barrel; IHA’s color trend expert Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute with her annual color forecast; and IHA’s lifestyle trend forecaster Tom Mirabile of Lifetime Brands examining the top lifestyle trends reshaping the housewares industry. Jon Huntsman Jr., former ambassador to China, former governor of Utah and recent presidential candidate, will be the guest speaker at the Industry Breakfast/IHA Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 13. We welcome you to this unique marketplace of goods and ideas. Enjoy Chicago and the Show, Phil Brandl President International Housewares Association

CHICAGO FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW Mixing the elegance of fashion with flowers, the 2012 Chicago Flower & Garden Show celebrates “Hort Couture,” transforming Navy Pier into a gardener’s runway from March 10-18. Drawing inspiration from colors and textures found in plants and fabrics, this year’s 25-plus, well-appointed display gardens feature an eye-candy array of florals and plants, containers, horticultural and greening displays and stylized gardens created and designed by acclaimed landscapers and horticultural professionals. “This ‘spring collection’ will inject a new sense of fun and style into the show. As with fashion, though, the classics that stand the test of time are celebrated, too,” says Tony Abruscato, president of Flower Show Productions and director of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show. The show hours are Mon-Sat 10am-8pm. Sun 10am-6pm. Adults $15 (online) -$17 (box office), children (ages 4-12) $5. For more info, visit www.chicagoflower.com.

Millennium Park

Presented by

From beautiful landscapes to monumental architecture to iconic sculpture, Millennium Park is truly a 21st century creation. Don’t miss your last opportunity to take a twirl on Chicago’s favorite outdoor ice rink, the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink. The rink is scheduled to close March 11th 2012, so sharpen those skates for one last lap. Jay Pritzker Pavilion: Architect Frank Gehry’s bold outdoor band shell, with its soaring steel ribbons and state-of-the-art canopied sound system over the lawn, is a breathtaking design that also happens to be a marquee performance venue. Crown Fountain: These towering waterfall bookends bearing digital images of actual Chicagoans have proven to be a popular barefoot playground for splashing children. Cloud Gate: The brilliant stainless steel curves of what has affectionately become known as “the Bean” mirrors both the skyline above and curious onlookers below. Lurie Gardens: A 2.5-acre paradise for green-loving urbanites, this collection of flora brings to life Chicago’s motto “Urbs in Horto” (City in a Garden). BP Bridge: Take the long way across Columbus Drive to Daley Bicentennial Plaza via Frank Gehry’s whimsically serpentine steel creation.

PARK

Self-Guided Audio Tour: Travel at your own pace and listen as the masterminds behind the world’s most spectacular new public space – architect Frank Gehry and artists Anish Kapoor and Jaume Plensa – recount how and why Millennium Park was built and the secrets that lie beneath the park floor.

HAPPENINGS Interconnected: The Sculptures of Yvonne Domenge Striving to represent underlying patterns in what may outwardly seem chaotic, Yvonne Domenge’s sculpture strikes a unity in opposites and finds harmony in apparent dissonances. Often referencing the natural world, Domenge’s work reveals a fascination with form and geometry. On display through Oct 1, 2012.

Millennium Park is accesible via the CTA #3, #4, #151 and #157 buses.
