HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH As much as theatergoers love a revival of a familiar musical, they tend to get even more excited about something truly original – the kind of rule-breaking, transformative production that might very well be the go-to classic of Broadway’s future. That was certainly the response when Hedwig and the Angry Inch first took the theater world by storm in 1998. This innovative, funny, genrebending rock musical went on the spawn a hit movie and a 2014 Broadway revival that racked up four Tony awards, and now landed in the heart of downtown Chicago to once again energize audiences looking for something wonderfully different. Hedwig continues its run this week at the Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph. Call 312.977.1700 for tickets ($32-$97) and a full schedule of performances.
