ON THE COVER HOP ON BOARD FOR ONE WILD RIDE Australian comedy-drama musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, plays at Auditorium Theatre (50 E. Congress). The performance follows the story of two drag queens and a transsexual woman on their journey across the outback in a tour bus they named “Priscilla.” Along the way, they encounter some friendly, accepting people, but they also encounter some homophobic abuse and even violence. When their tour bus breaks down, the trio befriends a middle-aged mechanic who joins them on their adventure. The musical is based off of a film by the same title produced in 1994, and was applauded for introducing LGBT themes to a mainstream audience. The musical has over 500 Tony Award-winning costumes. The show runs for two weeks, March 19-30, with performances 7:30pm, Tues.–Fri.; 2pm and 8pm Sat.; 2pm and 7:30 Sun. Additional 2pm performance on Wed., Mar. 27. Tickets are $28-$85.
