Welcome to the 2011 ASCO Annual Meeting here in Chicago. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Patients. Pathways. Progress” and over the next few days we will have the opportunity to discuss how these three things are all critically important and inextricably linked in our progress against cancer. We have a number of exciting initiatives at this year’s Annual Meeting, including opportunities to interact with session presenters through eQuestions and “Meet the Professor” sessions. Additionally, Meeting attendees can discover and discuss the latest information available for oncology clinical trials at Clinical Trials Day sessions on both Sunday, June 5th and Monday, June 6th. Also, be sure to visit the updated Oncology Professionals Hallwhich includes the Exhibit Hall and General Posters. Additionally, there is a large food court for relaxing and meeting with colleagues, and the Networking and Connection Hub, where you can watch and participate in technology demonstrations and meet ASCO leadership. You’ll also want to be sure and stop by ASCO Central in the Oncology Professionals Hall to learn more about the benefits of ASCO membership, ASCO’s programs and products, patient information, and the latest technological offerings. All ASCO publications will be available for sale here as well. Thanks for joining us at the 47th ASCO Annual Meeting; the premier venue for disseminating vital research to the oncology community. I hope you have an enjoyable and productive time.
Sincerely, Allen Lichter, MD CEO, ASCO
