26 FRIDAY
ON THE COVER SUMMER WITH THE LITTLE ONES The Lincoln Park Zoo (Cannon Dr. and Fullerton Pkwy, 312.742.2000) is ready for a summer full of new animals and activities for guests of all ages. Check out their latest arrivals, six trumpeter swan cygnets. While these birds were on the brink of extinction, the Lincoln Park Zoo has worked to reintroduce them throughout the region. Other babies at the zoo are two Sichuan takin calves. Born in February, these baby boys are full of energy and love to play! The zoo’s eightmonth-old gorilla, Nayembi, is also on her way back to recovery. While currently under 24-hour care, the staff hopes she will be reunited with her troop soon. Try yoga with your own toddler on Tuesday at 10am for some fun animal yoga poses. Or Wednesday, head to Café Brauer from 5:30pm–7:30pm for Locally Sourced, the zoo’s new event filled with local music, art, beer, and food. Visit lpzoo.org for more information.

Millennium Park
Presented by
From beautiful landscapes to monumental architecture to iconic sculpture, Millennium Park is truly a 21st century creation. Chicago’s civic gem is a 24.5-acre oasis in the heart of downtown. Don’t miss the Park’s Jun Kaneko art exhibition, which is comprised of his signature dangos, meaning “round form” or “dumpling” in Japanese. The exhibit is located in the North Boeing Gallery.
M U ST-S E E AT T RACT I O N S BP Bridge: Take the long way across Columbus Drive to Daley Bicentennial Plaza via Frank Gehry’s whimsically serpentine steel creation. Chase Promenade: A beautiful tree lined three-blocklong walkway that spans the length of the Park. Cloud Gate: The brilliant stainless steel curves of what has affectionately become known as “the Bean” mirrors both the skyline above and curious onlookers below. Crown Fountain: These towering waterfall bookends bear digital images of actual Chicagoans year-round.

Millennium Park is accesible via the CTA #3, #4, #151 and #157 buses.

The Loop Known as one of the most iconic parts of the city, THE LOOP is defined as the area inside the elevated “L” trains. It is an entertaining section of Chicago filled with retail stores, restaurants, and festivals. One of the many tourist attractions is Millennium Park, notorious for its sculpture, “The Bean.” Broadway in Chicago offers terrific seats to the most exciting shows in Chicago’s Downtown Theater District. The Chicago Theatre, another performing arts venue, holds a variety of events including standup comedy, jazz, and rock concerts. Some of the best shopping in the Loop is located on State Street. Block Thirty Seven, Shops on State features contemporary fashion and cafes. See the sparkling Jewelers Row, located on Wabash Ave. between Washington and Monroe, spanning two blocks with jewelers from all over the world. Hungry yet? Visit one of Chicago’s oldest Italian restaurants. With three eateries in one historic building, the Italian Village includes The Village, La Cantina Chophouse, and Vivere.
