NEWSIES
Sometimes a second edition is superior to the original. Case in point: nobody paid much attention to the 1992 film Newsies (which starred a young Chrstian Bale). But when Disney turned the tale of a band of underdogs standing up against the powerful for what’s right into a musical for the stage almost twenty years later, a Broadway smash was born. Now Newsies – that revitalized, high-energy explosion of song and dance – is back for a limited summer run in downtown Chicago. It’s an award-winning show that proves that even if newspapers themselves may not be what they once were, a story well told (and well sung) is timeless. So get out and see what the headlines are raving about This Week in Chicago! Newsies continues this week at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph. Tickets ($32-$87) are available at 312.384.1502.
