Millennium Park

Presented by

From beautiful landscapes to monumental architecture to iconic sculpture, Millennium Park is truly a 21st century creation. Chicago’s civic gem is a 24.5-acre oasis in the heart of downtown. Don’t miss the Jun Kaneko art exhibition, which is comprised of his signature dangos, meaning “round form” or “dumpling” in Japanese. The exhibit is located in the North Boeing Gallery.

M U ST-S E E AT T RACT I O N S BP Bridge: Take the long way across Columbus Drive to Daley Bicentennial Plaza via Frank Gehry’s whimsically serpentine steel creation. Chase Promenade: A beautiful tree lined three-blocklong walkway that spans the length of the Park. Cloud Gate: The brilliant stainless steel curves of what has affectionately become known as “the Bean” mirrors both the skyline above and curious onlookers below. Crown Fountain: These towering waterfall bookends bear digital images of actual Chicagoans year-round. Jay Pritzker Pavilion: Architect Frank Gehry’s bold outdoor band shell, with its soaring steel ribbons and state-of-the-art canopied sound system over the lawn, is a breathtaking design.

38

Millennium Park is accesible via the CTA #3, #4, #151 and #157 buses.

Wrigley Square and Millennium Monument: The Square is anchored by the Millennium Monument, a nearly full-sized replica of the original peristyle that stood in the same location between 1917 and 1953.

F R E E H A P P E N I N GS

Grant Park Music Festival: Enjoy orchestra performances, classical music, jazz, swing and other forms of music Monday through Saturday in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on select days in August.

The Loop Known as one of the most iconic parts of the city, the LOOP is defined as the area inside the elevated “L” trains. It is an entertaining section of Chicago filled with retail stores, restaurants, and festivals. One of the many tourist attractions is Millennium Park, notorious for its sculpture, “Cloud Gate,” affectionately known as “The Bean.” Broadway in Chicago offers terrific seats to the most exciting shows in Chicago’s Downtown Theater District. The Chicago Theatre, another performing arts venue, holds a variety of events including standup comedy, jazz, and rock concerts. Some of the best shopping in the Loop is located on State Street. Block Thirty Seven, Shops on State features contemporary fashion and cafes. See the sparkling Jewelers Row, located on Wabash Ave. between Washington and Monroe, spanning two blocks with jewelers from all over the world. Hungry yet? Visit one of Chicago’s oldest Italian restaurants. With three eateries in one historic building, the Italian Village includes The Village, La Cantina Chophouse, and Vivere.
