FEELING BLUE THIS FALL When most folks think of the colors of autumn, they tend to focus on the yellows, reds, oranges and browns on the trees. But here in Chicago, blue is also part of the fall palette – not to mention every other season throughout the year. Because for the past nearly twenty autumns, the bald blue trio of Blue Man Group has been an integral part of the city scene. With their penchant for messy curiosity and all-out percussive fun, the cobalt crew has hosted thousands upon thousands of visitors for one of the most unique parties in town – and there’s no end in sight. Blue Man Group continues its amazing run this week at the Briar Street Theater, 3133 N. Halsted. Call 773.348.4000 for tickets and a full schedule of performances.

Meat lovers, your table is ready. At Texas de Brazil (210 E. Thoughts drift toward Bavaria at this time of year, as the chill in the air signals the onset of Oktoberfests of all shapes and sizes. Fortunately for Chicagoans – and visitors to the city – the convivial spirit of Oktoberfest, as well as all of the great German cuisine and free-flowing beer that goes along with it, is on display yearround at the historic Berghoff (17 W. Adams, 312.427.3170).
For almost 90 years, scores of downtown theatergoers and food lovers have descended on the legendary Italian Village (71 W. Chop House
If Chicago is a steak town – and it is – then Chicago Chop House (60 W. Ontario, 312.787.7100) could be considered its culinary City Hall. From the historic Victorian brownstone setting to the cozy rooms lined with photos of historic figures and politicians to, of course, the menu of succulent prime aged beef, this is a classic Windy City steakhouse experience all the way.
The folks at Labriola definitely know their baked goods, which is why it shouldn’t be surprising to know that they were instrumental in bringing legendary West Coast chain Stan’s Donuts (259 E. Erie, 312.255.1130) to the Windy City. Stop in for a yummy chocolate glazed or apple fritter and an eyeopening cup of Stan’s coffee to get your day started right.
While famous for the many varieties of fresh seafood available every day, there’s really only one that really matters this month at Catch 35 (35 W. Wacker, 312.346.3500) – lobster. Indeed, during the Lobster Bash, you’ll find this crustacean sensation not only in its glorious whole form, but filling out everything from Lobster Rolls to pot pies to mashed potatoes as well. keymagazinechicago.com
