Sneak one last peek at Christmas at The Museum of Science and Industry’s 69th annual Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light exhibit. The Museum’s 45-foot Grand Tree takes center stage in the Rotunda with more than 30,000 lights and 1,000 ornaments, and it is surrounded by more than 50 smaller trees—beautifully decorated by volunteers from Chicago’s ethnic communities to represent their various cultures and holiday traditions. Stroll through the trees, enjoy intermittent falling “snow” and savor the performances of various dance and choral groups on the Holiday Stage. And when you are done admiring the trees, you can take in another family favorite, Jim Henson’s Fantastic World, an exhibit which explores the amazing career and imagination of this master puppeteer, creator of the Muppets. (The Museum’s Grand Tree will be decked out in colorful puppet splendor in honor of this special temporary exhibit.) As a professional, Brasher has developed a distinctive painting technique, which has evolved from a solid background in art history and literature. You can find Brasher memorizing Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” or playing Chopin on the piano to relax after a day in his studio.
