Shock, jubilation, restlessness, elation, uncontrollable sobbing, confusion and a touch of road rage were witnessed today at Kiama’s picturesque Black Beach, with the announcement that the KISS Arts Fest is returning on 27-29 April for its seventh glorious year. Dave Evans, one of the founders of this free family-friendly festival of interactive art, street performances, comedy, music and general weirdness, said that the event had grown a lot from just one tent set up in Hindmarsh Park. He said a few other things too, but we here at the Bugle Smuggler were a little distracted by this press release that seemed to sum it up even better: “KISS Arts Fest 2018 is a seaside celebration of the spectacular, the silly and the sublime! Postcard from: The Kiama Kabaret The kult klassic with too many Ks returns for 2018! That’s right, it’s the krazy kross between The Greatest Showman, Logie Awards and Kiama’s Got Talent – also known as The Kiama Kabaret! This year, the Friday night spectacular will be held in the KISS Village for the very first time – at the new “Kazador” Spiegeltent (pictured). The venue itself is a treat, the entertainment is brand spanking new and your hosts for the evening are the long-suffering local lovebirds Kiki and Pascal.
