Aleksandra Kostič in Žiga Dobnikar 4

In an age when the tendency is to dematerialize the world through technology and digital communications, an idea of reestablishing material expression has been born. In the curatorial vision, the works of art here embody subjective interpretations of materiality within a wide diapason of authorial approaches. Because any selection is inherently fragmentary, the curators deliberately avoid both encyclopedic pretensions as well as the aspiration to form new canons or new dogmas of the history of art. Driving the exhibition is the juxtaposition of artists who fall into markedly different milieux, yet reveal related creative impulses. Thus, a constellation of works is created, set in an informal and relaxed attitude, softening stifling conceptual dictates, freeing a subjective stream of thought on which a new dialogue between the works and the authors can float. The exhibition comes to life through a dynamic dialogue between experiences, actions and experiments at the node of art work, space, and substantive definitions: 1. materiality itself as pure, touchable matter, and the micro-perception thereof 2. perception and reflection of the synergies of materiality that surrounds us 3. substantiality of the living body, the body as an object and world of things 4. entropy and decay of matter 5. the immaterial as the essence of the material Materiality is a manifesto, a statement on the necessity of ambitious works regardless of the harsh current climate in which culture and art in general are perceived as redundant and unnecessary. Aleksandra KostiÄ? and Ĺ˝iga Dobnikar 5

Jule Ja Kantor: Serija The Graces and More I (series The Graces and More I), 2012

Umetnico je odkril in jo zastopa Private View by Maja Škerbot. Her artistic meta-language is based on the hypnotic power of image and is intended as a means of requestioning the phenomenon of various manipulations – the author as an avatar, representing with her Slovene origin the younger generation of the Berlin art world, places at the center of her collagefilled worlds man and the power of his self-awareness and changing for the better. The artist was discovered and is represented by Private View by Maja Škerbot. http://www.privateview.org/
