What does your favorite face mask look like that you wear out in the community? Maybe you wear it out going shopping or to appointments? We all wear a mask to keep each other from spreading the COVID-19 virus. There is even a special term for this type of equipment. It is called “PPE,” which stands for “Personal Protective Equipment.” By wearing PPE, such as face masks, the COVID-19 germs are less likely to spread from person to person. Wearing PPE means you are doing your part to keep yourself and others healthy. There are people all around our community that are doing their part to keep people healthy, too. Dentists are a big group in the community that are health heroes. Not only do they make sure our teeth are healthy and taken care of, but they are also wearing PPE to make sure COVID-19 germs are not spread. As our favorite dentist Dr. M says, “In every dental office, we have to wear more equipment now to do the same work.” Here is Dr. M showing us the equipment you may see YOUR dentist wear at your next appointment. www.CranstonDentalGroup.com
Hi, Dr.M! Here is Dr. M.
Here he is wearing his usual gloves, face mask and jacket.
Now he added a cap. His cap has guitars on it.
What would you wear on yours?
Some dentists wear special telescopic glasses with a light to help them see in better detail.
Cool! Lastly, Dr. M is wearing a face shield which is a sheet of clear plastic that goes over his entire face.
“With all this equipment on, it can be hard to recognize your dentist who you have known your entire life,“ says Dr. M. It is important to know that your dentist is a helper. Your dentist is the same person doing the same exam and cleaning, but THEY have to wear a little more protection and practice all of the hand-washing and cleaning precautions. With some understanding and following the steps to keep yourself and others safe, your next dentist appointment will be a piece of cake… just remember to brush your teeth!
