Causes for Fractures in children

ďƒź Children usually are so much in a hurry when doing their activities, especially when climbing or getting down stairs, that they often miss a step.

ďƒź This results in sudden jerking, as kids do not react instantly to this sudden change in the height of steps, which results in a twist, and a broken bone.

ďƒź Kids tend to participate more in organized sports like athletics and Gymnasts. ďƒź Teens who participate in these sports have a constant pressure of keeping themselves fit and hence start eating less, resulting in an eating disorder which will then bring in a host of other problems.

ďƒź An anorexic teen will then lose bone density and the bones tend to become very brittle thus increasing the vulnerability to an injury or a fracture. ďƒź There could also be stress fractures than can be seen in kids, when they are over trained during a sports season, run in improper footwear, or a novice in sports who is being trained too hard, someone who has tight muscles or flat feet.

You can also notice Growth plate fractures, when there is twisting, because these bones do not grow from the center, but just grow at the ends, and hence they are weaker to take in more strength during childhood.
