10 Fun Things

To Do At Home This Summer

The summer holiday is right around the corner and since it is starting to get a bit on the hot side, we have teamed up with Kidzapp, your family’s ultimate guide for fun at home and around the UAE, to find some fun-tastic activities for big and small. Check out some of our favourite picks whether you are in the mood for playing, crafting or even squeezing in a bit of fun learning.

Download Kidzapp for FREE on iOS or Android to find all the activities and much more!

1. Camp Indoors Clear up some floor space in the living room and set up your tent. If you want to amp up the camping atmosphere, get on YouTube and put on some forest-themed background music or even a crackling campfire. Got a gas cooker? – Spoil your kids with some s’mores.

2. Develop That Green Thumb Get your little one a Planting Kit, by The Creative Train, complete with pots, shovel, watering can, seeds, and planting soil. It is a perfect activity to get your child excited about gardening and for you to teach them a bit about biology.

3. Make your own Play Dough If you have little toddlers at home, you probably go through a lot of play dough – especially these days! It can get a bit pricey buying the usual brands which is why we are happy to see an easy, no-cook recipe for play dough on Kidzapp. All you need is a few ingredients that you most likely already have in your cupboard.

4. Indoor Obstacle Course One thing is for sure, our kids are definitely going to have some pent-up energy over the summer. And with limited access to our favourite parks and beach spots, we are getting the wiggles out by setting up an indoor obstacle course. Use your furniture and various household items to design your course at home – the more creative you get, the more fun it will be for your boys and girls.

5. Join Kidzapp’s LIVE Summer Camp Keep your boys and girls engaged with a variety of fun kids’ activities from top providers throughout the summer! Follow Kidzapp on Instagram for updates.

6. Paint With Bubbles Get busy with an awesome STEAM activity for your little one combining an exciting dry ice experiment with a creative art project.

7. Build Your Own Robot Friend Have your kids use their imagination with Laila’s Candy Cart’s newest kit and try it out as little toymakers as they build their very own wooden, robot friend.

8. Get Creative With Your Delivery Cardboard Boxes Don’t let your delivery boxes go to waste! From cars, planes to castles, Kidzapp shares awesome ideas on how to repurpose your boxes into something great that your child will have oodles of fun with!

9. Go On A Treasure Hunt Start off by creating a bunch of hints (on pieces of paper) to different items/spots in your home – one hint leading to the next. For example, I am a little North Pole in the kitchen (freezer) or Your dust is my food (vacuum cleaner). Give your child the first hint and watch as they explore throughout the house. As for the “treasure”, you can treat your kids with a small toy, a DIY voucher for a future outing, a dish/snack/treat of their choice or something else they would love.

10. Set Up A Toy Wash Washing their toys is a very basic activity that your toddlers will surely enjoy - plus it’s a fun activity for them to practice their motor skills! All you need is a couple of plastic containers (or buckets), a sponge, dish soap and some of your kids’ water-friendly toys.
