Spring Essentials

ask

Sporty side stripes plus feminine florals equals on-trend “athleisure.”

Q: I can never have too many accessories, but I’ve got all the basics covered. What are some of this season’s unique standout pieces that I can add to my collection?

Accessories are one of the most fun categories to buy for the store, and we usually wait until the last minute in order to bring you the freshest finds. “Bubble leather” purses from Tissa Fontaneda are one example of a cool item that you just won’t find anywhere else in the area. They come in great neutral tones that pair with everything in your wardrobe, but their unusual texture and unique shell knot closures make them anything but basic. The Rag & Bone Crossbody bag is another amazing option if you’re after a more classic look. They’re very roomy and come in soft, supple leathers with colorblock details, offering convenience and style.

Q: I’m the type that lives in denim. Which new styles can I add to my repertoire to keep it fresh this spring?

Slouchy boyfriend fits and distressed details are still in, but many of this season’s rips have been rehabbed—think stitched-up slits, or holes backed by slightly darker denim for a patchwork effect.

If your closet is already awash in blue, consider a leopard or floral-print skinny pant. You’ll find some of our favorites, from brands like Hudson and Mason’s, in this issue’s Mindful Finds fashion section.

SPRING 2015 FASHION TIPS FOR HER

Q: spring and summer 2015? What are the hottest color trends for

This summer is shaping up to be white-hot. Allwhite outfits flatter almost every skin tone, and a silky white blouse should be the foundation of every warm-weather wardrobe. If we know our customers (and we think we do!) you can never get enough white shirts. Don’t miss our favorites: flowy styles with cool details from D. Exterior and European Culture.

Blue will continue to be strong this year, and dusty greens and khakis pair back perfectly to the crisp clean of white.

Q: How can I stay warm (but still look good) during the early transition into spring?

One of our fabulous spring outerwear pieces is sure to keep the chill out. Herno’s new collection of lightweight puffer coats channels Chanel with cropped, short-sleeved silhouettes and contrasting trim. The cotton easy jacket from Mason’s is another casual option, while Gimo’s offers a beautiful selection of trimmed and quilted leathers.

Q: The term “athleisure” seems to be everywhere these days. What does it mean and how can I make the trend work for me?

This trend is all about accessorizing your activewear so you can go out to brunch or run errands without looking like you just stepped out of the gym. You’ll appear more put together but you’ll still be just as comfortable in the stretchy, breathable fabrics you can’t get enough of.

One idea I love is to throw on a great new jacket or vest to dress up your casual look. Almost all of our vendors are now offering active-inspired pieces, and we’ve brought in brands like Line, European Culture and Mason’s to elevate your everyday look. Come in to see what’s new!
